Rockies sweep Reds, postgame afterparty thread.
I'm not sure if we've got a recap coming or not soon, I'll come back and write one after dinner if I don't see it. In the meantime, here's a fresh thread to discuss happenings around the rest of the NL and our second straight sweep in Cincinnati.

Yeah...so my internet went AWOL shortly before Tulo's homerun in the eighth and just now returned.
I’ll have the game wrap up soon.
Eschew Obfuscation!
That's why I was gone and why there was no overflow thread. My apologies...
Stupid internet.

Terrible game.
Hopefully the Phillies lay some eggs against us too.

But they're the Phillies...
Their sweat can cure cancer and their hair can be sewn into the finest cloaks of brilliant multicolored fine silk.
At least that’s what I’ve been lead to believe…

Stupid Cole Hamels
not helping the Rockies nor my fantasy team
The Rockies need some oldschool purple/white striped high socks. The team’s problem is it’s lack of swagger. I feel strongly that these socks will provide the swagger necessary to tap the potential that are the Rockies.
Question
I’ve been meaning to ask for a while, so here goes:
Why are some folks on this site so offended at the idea that someone doesn’t believe the Rockies will make the playoffs? I mean, only four teams can make the playoffs and there’s a chance — although, that chance is shrinking by the day — that we could miss the playoffs.
There’s a growing level of insecurity that is a little bit weird. Just because ESPN doesn’t put the Rockies on the front page, because Kruk doesn’t think the Rockies are great, because some talking heads think the Rockies will miss the postseason, this causes a mild uprising. Why does this bother folks? Does anyone really care if ESPN is sucking at DOD’s teet? Do we get bonus points for number of national stories?
Can’t we just stick to commentary about what occurs on the field? I don’t recall feeling slighted in 07 when we were left out of SI’s postseason preview because the mathematical odds were so against us. I recall being jubilated because we made the playoffs. Let’s stick to that rather than feign angst toward something that does not matter.
It's not we automatically assume that we're winning the wildcard, we recognize that the Giants and the people behind them are challenges for the wildcard spot
It’s that we have the best shot of winning it currently.
It irks me (I’m not speaking for anyone else) when some people just completely write off the Rockies because, well, they’re the Rockies. They were one of baseball’s biggest butt jokes for a long time, and there are a lot of pessimistic Rockies fans who think that they are a joke and spread that message around the team. Most baseball fans assume that 2007’s success was a big fluke and that because we don’t have big name talent and traded the big ones away, we’re pretenders. It irked me incredibly when during the All Star break when we were right behind the Giants, half the media was calling the Rockies pretenders and were expecting them to go right back under .500 where the baseball nation thinks we belong.
Now that the Rockies have been at the top of the wildcard for a while, and especially because we worked off that horrible Mets series, the Rockies are getting more respect and most of the negativity has stopped. ESPN has paid attention to the Rockies lately and some have rightfully called the Rockies favorites, which almost all baseball odds have called us to win the wildcard. I agree with you, that the Rockies fans should just give it a break because most of the media does recognize us as a real contender for the wildcard now.
Besides, I forgot who said it, but Rockies fans love playing the inferiority complex because we were baseball’s joke for such a long time. Besides, we love recording what negative media people say about us and sticking it in their faces if we do win it in the end.
Discussing the Rest of the NL
Billingsley just got pulled from the Dodgers game with what looked like a hyper-extended left knee.

Unless his leg was hanging off
Or perhaps stretched out like in a cartoon, what visible sign would there be?
I am really struggling with whether to support the Dodgers against our WC opponents, or to work on the tiny smidgen of belief deep in the recesses of my brain that we could actually win the NL West. It’s a tricky one.
Simple answer
Root against Dodgers except when:
1) They play the Giants
2) They play a WC contender who is closer than 4 games behind us
3) They play a team that for some stupid reason a team passes us in the WC
