Beyond the Boxscore shows Aaron Cook lost velocity quickly in his last start
This supports the theory that the shoulder was bothering him before that last inning.

I was worried about injury ever since Cookie re-injured his toe a few starts back.
Despite the fact that he blamed it on a mechanics thing, any favoring or compensation of a foot/leg thing can be murder on a pitcher’s arm in the long run. I just hope he stays down until he’s really healthy so he doesn’t do any long-term damage.
I think Cook is done
Not “done omg never pitch again” but he’s going to start to show himself as more of the mid-to-back rotation that his peripherals suggest he is.
Don’t get me wrong, groundballs are great, but he just isn’t as lockdown as Ubaldo is.

I don't think Cook was ever a true "ace" like Baldo can be.
But he’ll come back and continue to roll out ground balls, this won’t change that. Just stay out ‘til you’re healthy, Cook.
