They do seem to paying special attention to chemistry with a lot of their moves lately.

I remember one of the articles about the Giambi pickup mentioned that they thought he’d be a good clubhouse guy and would handle a limited role without complaint (which I can see about him).

They put up a graph in the True Blue LA game thread

that showed pitch location for left handed batters on both teams. At least 80% of them were way out of the strike zone that were called strikes. The home plate ump sounds like he is sucking the big one.

I went back through Gameday and looked at the pitches. It’s not even close. Plus, they’ve had a ton of balls in the middle of the zone.

The FanPost that I'm deleting from Kazmandoo reads:
Wiff, wiff, ground out, wiff, pop out, wiff, wiff. That’s about what Hawpe and Stewart are contributing offensively. I’m not so sure Stewart’s in a slump, he’s never really hit well (occasional homer is about all). He’s just not a good hitter. There will not be a surge for the divisional crown if these guys can’t hit above their weight. 220 ba (Stewart) is pathethic. Atkins just got a hit. Trade Stewart, keep Atkins. Hawpe can go too, his stock is somewhat up, and is replaceable.

I’m not deleting it to censor him, I just think this stuff works better in a comment in threads rather than as a FanPost.

Based on today

Seems like the dodgers getting Padilla and us losing Cook and replacing with ____ might decide this race…

by Teekalong on Aug 27, 2009 3:44 PM MDT reply actions

what I'm saying is

it seems like they might have got a horse to ride down the stretch while we’re still grasping badly for a replacement. Maybe ours will work out fine too, but we’re already in the hole after yesterday.

I hope you are right

and I think you might be, re the wildcard. But 4/5 ain’t gonna win the division.

by Teekalong on Aug 27, 2009 3:52 PM MDT up reply actions

We have 34 games left

For the ease of math, I’ll include today so 35 games left. If we win 4/5 of those 35, that gives us 28 wins. That’ll put us at 100 wins.
Now I’m not saying that’s gonna happen, but it’s not complete doom and gloom.

Gladly sharing a name with Dexter Fowler!

Rockies 9th inning hitters stats for August.

Barmes .203/.289/.494, 2 2B, 7 HR, 6 BB
Yorvit .303/.378/.333 1 2B, 4 BB (3 IBB)
Spilborghs .286/.340/.469 3 2B, 2 HR, 4 BB

Barmes has been a positive with every type of pitch except changeups, but he especially likes fastballs. Yorvit hits FB’s and changeups but nothing breaking, and Spilly’s been a slight negative to average on any type of pitch.
