Not really
Remember Helton running through a sign & getting lucky?
And Tulo, for all his heroics, thinks he’s faster on the bases than he is, and isn’t a great judge of when he should try for extra bases.
No records in the last 10 years should count.
i always though holliday was our best baserunner until he left

My statement wasn't an opinion from watching the team
sure, you can think of baserunning blunders. But there was a study showing we were the top baserunning team…sometime in July I think.

That would stretch the limit of statistics/sabremetrics
You can track CS and pickoffs, but not taking the extra base (or not), running through signs, or hitting the inside corner of the bag … so many things that are keys to good baserunning
No records in the last 10 years should count.
Do the Rox have a baserunning coach?
If not, they need to get one.
If so, they need to fire him.
No records in the last 10 years should count.

It may have gotten us a run in the first inning though

ABV is a better indicator of calories than color
Color merely comes from highly roasted malts, which contain the same amount of sugar than lightly roasted malt.
Well, I just went by the brochure for Skinny Dip
indicating 117 calories per bottle as opposed to 171 for Blue Moon
Skinny dip is a good, clean beer no doubt
Just kicked a keg that I bought for summer get togethers.
So if I follow the changes correctly
Lewis stayed in the game in the 9 hole, Garko stayed in in the 5 hole and the pitcher is now hitting 3rd.
Their pinch hitting options are Winn and Rohlinger. Bochy has painted himself into a pretty deep corner….
makes franklins performance that much more impressive
takes away their three best bench bats
it's a game. two sides. one light, one dark.
god
when are we gonna stop getting out on the basepaths, that inning would of scored at least 2 runs
How lucky can the rockies get lately.............
Comeback games against the Giants last week including Spilborghs amazing homerun, what are the chances. And also getting out of a 2nd and 3rd nobody out situation with help form the home plate umpire……. Maybe its their year this year
how were the comebacks lucky?

poses with the bat on the shoulder for 3 strikes, not even moving it, but that’s better then GIDP. Now it’s up to Cargo
Took 2 pitches when all that was needed was a SF?
Unbelievable

Took three
2 and 3 were borderline but still should have swung obviously.

other than the Rockies getting swept, losing our franchise QB and best d-back, getting further verification that our O-line sucks, finding out our kicker can’t make field goals, finding out we have no punt or kick return game, and finding out our starting SS still can’t tackle….it was a nice weekend, wasn’t it?

His success was built on bat speed and using the whole field, not so much sheer power. He never struck me as a juicer. He’s just 29, so he really shouldn’t have lost bat speed so quickly.

Because before he struck out the hitter before
he had worked the bases loaded??
If he leaves Frankie in and Edgar grannies off him, Tracy would get crucified. Probably rightly so.

i think he should have let EY bunt for Barmes.
he would have definitely got stew to third..
This
is a good point. Barmes not being able to get that bunt down is very sad.
EY hasn't looked too great bunting yet, either

After this disaster
We MUST go 10-0 on the homestand. 9-1 won’t cut it at this point.

That's a little silly

It has to be better than in Triple-A
Things have got to be better at Coors Field than the Triple-A Sky Sox are dealing with right now. They had a 7 1/2 game lead in their division nine days ago. But after a 1-7 homestand so far, their division lead is all but gone. Granted, Jason Giambi homered again today, but they are still losing. Let’s hope Jason will be another key left-handed bat from the bench over the next few weeks.
I know, weird parallel to the big club
It takes a big man to cry, but it takes a bigger man to laugh at that man.
I officially apologize to ESPN for their lack of Rockies coverage until this last week
Now would you please go back to skipping over highlights of our games like you used to?
Thanks
lol
well I think John Krurk might want to spend some time saying how “right” he is about the Rockies.

Playoffs?!
Don’t talk about playoffs. Playoffs?! Are you kidding me? I just hope we can win a game, one game.
"Good teams win games, horse**** teams have meetings." - Ozzie Guillen
I was kidding
It just seemed a fitting place for that classic Jim Mora quote/rant.
"Good teams win games, horse**** teams have meetings." - Ozzie Guillen
and we have 10 straight home games
and another 6 roadgames for a brutal 16 game stretch..
If I made a list....
…of the things I could have done with my Sunday afternoon rather than watching this game, I’d be really, really depressed.
would it have been an overreaction...
…for Helton to have stabbed the home-plate ump in the heart with what was left of that bat?
Man I thought we had this in the bag
I wasn’t worried one bit then………(explosion)… just terrible. If we give up this much runs to the Giants, think what would happen with all the other Major league teams that hit better than them. Just god awful.
I love it when they do this.

Brad Hawpe will strikeout.
Should he even play now? Did you see that defensive play? It was the worst thing I’ve ever seen from us defensively all season.
Or he'll draw a walk
To go with the extra base hits from this series.
And yes the fly ball was bad. But perhaps you’ve noticed Helton, Uribe and others having a few issues with balls in the air the last couple innings? It is SF. It happens there.

and NO,
I don’t think I want the stretch run package.
This one's a rockies disgrace.
Ah well. Keeps it interesting. Keep the faith everyone and see you soon.
How important those two extra game wins were
If we had lost those, it would have been brutal..
you make a great point.
I’m thinking of this like the basketball playoffs. We defended our home turf mostly…and the Giants did too.
We’ll get back home and get moving again..We’ll bounce back
At least thru tomorrow
Day off. Probably good for the team, but the last thing the fans need.
"Good teams win games, horse**** teams have meetings." - Ozzie Guillen
I beg to differ
A day off from watching this team is pretty much exactly what I need right now.
After that, the Mets. And we had seriously better crush those guys if we want to get into the postseason.
I won't mind the day off either
Allows me to watch Vikings-Texans tomorrow night and not be flipping back and forth to anything, except maybe How I Met Your Mother
"Good teams win games, horse**** teams have meetings." - Ozzie Guillen
Too bad this isn't the Little League World Series
Or that would’ve been the case

Woo Hoo
I’ll probably be following online. The Bronco fan in me makes me just a little too intrigued not to. Fortunately, I don’t put much stock into preseason so whatever happens, happens. At least it might take my mind off of the little losing streak the Rox have going on. Could be a fun game though
There is a way.

No thank you..
I actually thought you should put the word “The Next Team we Play”…but that’s my weird sense of humor..
The most brutal part of the loss
is the lack of fundamentals..
but more than that, before today’s sac fly by Barmes (of all the people), our last sac fly to score a run was the 14th run in 14-11 win (last saturday)
The Rockies need to have a team meeting of some sort
See my signature…
"Good teams win games, horse**** teams have meetings." - Ozzie Guillen
Maybe it should be an organizational thing
The bad karma is also at Triple-A Colorado Springs and Double-A Tulsa. Both seemed to have control of their playoff berths earlier in the week, but both have had similar slumps, and those playoff berths are now falling out of their grasps. And they only have eight games left.
I am going to stop following Rockies box score and overflow thread here...
may be that will change their luck… So see you guys next week
Perspective
1. Still WC tie. 31 games remain with 19 at home. Lot’s of games left.
2. 10 game stretch against your stiff competition and you go 4-6. Not so good. Lose 2 of 3 at home and swept on the road. 3-4 at home. Improvement needed.
3. The strikeouts and unproductive outs are killing this team. K’s are sad. They do nothing for you. Especially against teams like the Giants that are defensively challenged.
4. K’s make life easy on the defense, keep you from hitting behind runners, manufacturing runs.
5. Giants were crushed last week. They picked themselves up and stayed the course. Let’s see the mettle of the Rockies now. Will they tank or regroup?

They’ve come too far to piss this thing away now.
