Rockies 0, Phillies 7: J.A. Happ dominates Rockies

After a loss like this one, all I can think of doing is giving a tip of the cap to J.A. Happ. He got he job done tonight with a complete game shutout on four hits and 10 strikeouts. Jorge De La Rosa finally turned in a bad start after what felt like forever: 5 IP, 10 H, 7 R, 3 HR.

Uh, Josh Fogg threw three innings and allowed just one hit!

Get 'em tomorrow!

that this was a game I’m glad I didn’t see. Meh. Get back at it tomorrow, guys. Nobody’s gonna win ’em all. Go Rockies!

I'll have another beer, please.

Happ looked really good tonight

and DLR is human. Oh well. The Rockies hit a few balls well that didn’t go their way. It happens.

My bad everyone

I picked up Jorge for this start in my fantasy league. Last time I picked him up (in June I think) I had him on my team for two starts and he gave up seven runs in each. I’ll drop him so he can return to not sucking.

The Rockies need some oldschool purple/white striped high socks. The team’s problem is it’s lack of swagger. I feel strongly that these socks will provide the swagger necessary to tap the potential that are the Rockies.

i hope you're in like a 20 team NL only league

because that’s the only excuse I could accept for picking up JDLR

by Narcoleptico on Aug 5, 2009 11:38 PM MDT up reply actions

youre being a bit hard on him

De la Rosa is very valuable in picking up Ks in fantasy and was the most valuable SP available in my 12 team league before his july run. As a fifth starter (or seventh if you use starters that way) he honestly can add value

Besides, seven games might be a small sample size, but its large enough that he held the consecutive won starts franchise record. Has to count for something

i'd picked up JDLR, too...

my excuse was along the lines of:

  1. pitcher sucked
  2. pitcher sucked
  3. pitcher sucked
  4. pitcher sucked…

my guess is that Resolution probably has a similar excuse…

Friedrich

10 Ks in 5.2 innings. He didn’t give up any earned runs but he had a shockingly odd GO/FO rate. 0 groundballs and 6 flyouts.

BJ Ryan Update

When you are wrong, you are wrong and I was the latter (as well as the former). Last week I questioned why the Rox had not gone out and at least tried to sign B.J. Ryan after the Jays released him. The Cubbies took a flyer. Well, now comes word that Ryan asked for and received his released from the Cubbies after his control and velocity failed to return. The Biggest Loser in this sorry escapade is the Jays who still owe the now-washed-up Ryan millions. The Rox actually knew what they were doing and I didn’t. Oh well…I’ll take Betancourt and Biemel anyway.

The funny/sad thing

is that in MLB 2K9, I was able to trade Ryan and Atkins to the Blue Jays for Halladay. I doubt that would work in real life…

by Muzia on Aug 6, 2009 8:44 AM MDT up reply actions

Wow. That’s surprising even in a video game world. Halladay seems undervalued. I think he was something like 48th overall in preseason yahoo fantasy rankings, and like the 8th pitcher
