Game #132: Mike Pelfrey vs. Jorge De La Rosa
New York Mets at Colorado Rockies, Sep 1, 2009 6:40 PM MDT
Mike Pelfrey shut down the Rockies on July 28th, going 6.1 innings without allowing a run. This definitely needs to NOT happen tonight. Jorge De La Rosa was better, allowing four less base runners, but fell victim to a long ball that scored a couple of runs (and fell victim to his own offense not being able to capitalize with runners on base). That version of JDLR should suffice in the offensive-friendly (for the Rockies, in this case) confines of Coors Field.
VS.
GO ROCKIES!

He had three hits Sunday and Atkins starting tonight…

But I wanna get home to the inevitable (yeah, right) victory thread.

So...
Why exactly is it a good idea for Wright to come back at high altitude, when that was precisely the thing that started Church on a bad road?
It's been said that Wright has more Ecksteinishness in him than Church
I doubt that’s true, but if it is…well, it just makes him gritty enough to get away with it!

Haha...when you can tell it's a playoff race
you’re upset because the team you need to win is tied and has just one less hit than the other team…

I just want the Phillies to win easily. No room for annoying comebacks.
But so far it’s a pitchers’ duel.
sigh
I hate Mets games. MLB.tv blackouts are almost as bad as rain-outs. Radio just doesn’t do it for me.
Very annoying
Particularly when the cable company where you live doesn’t bother to carry the channel that’s showing the game.
I don't know if this was covered already
The two Gregs were both called up and then placed on the 60-day DL to make room on the 40-man. I haven’t seen a third move yet.
Frenchy

Hopefully the day off gave our Rox time to remember how awesome they are.
Let’s kick some butt for the home crowd tonight, boys.
What's the best part of green week?
It’s incentive for Jeff Francis to come back strong next year so he doesn’t have to do these again.
I can't see it, but maybe he's just like that.
He’s always seemed pretty low-key to me. Some people look sad when they’re just in a regular mood. I’ve been accused of being sullen when that was not my intent or mood at all.
im glad
yorvit keeps getting more playiing time. i’ve never been able to stand him but iannetta has been so awful recently that i don’t care. with mckenry and rosario moving through the minors fairly quickly iannetta needs to get his act together
it's a game. two sides. one light, one dark.
How many starts is Paul Phillips gonna get?
Your best? Losers alway complain about their best. Winners go out and f*** the prom queen.
-John Mason (Sean Connery)
my guess
would be 0. maybe with injuries, prolonged slumps by both catchers, or day/night games would allow phillips to sneak in once, but i doubt it. he’d be a decent bat off the bench though. this is all assuming we stay in contention for the whole month. i do like phillips though
it's a game. two sides. one light, one dark.
I would think teams always bring up another catcher.
Allows them another pinch hit option without worrying about having no catchers left.
and this one can actually swing a little
better option than bellorin at least

Is that a new pic of JDLR?

Cole Hamels just stole a base.
I think that may be the first time I’ve heard of a pitcher stealing a base. Although maybe it was unintentional, who knows. I’m only following on Gameday.
Although, if Cole Hamels can accidentally steal a base on Eli Whiteside while we couldn't, that would be pretty sad.
So I’m just going to assume it was intentional and he got a really awesome jump.

I could be an AL manager:
