I'll be somewhere in or around Montreal by the time this game starts, when I join the thread will depend on how quickly I can find a cafe with free Wi-Fi. At any rate, Kip Wells gets an opportunity to continue to torment the Rockies, this time as a member of an opposing team, however, so the thought is that this time it might go better for the Rox. Contreras gets his second start for Colorado after shutting down the Snakes on Saturday, the Reds lineup shouldn't present much more of a challenge to him. The Rockies have won eight of nine games on their current homestand, and six straight since losing to the Mets last Thursday.

I had no idea Wells had been pitching so well. It's time to change that. We know he's afraid of Coors Field, let's give him more reason to be.

Vancouver was lovely. I vacayed in BC a few years ago. I spent most of my time in a town called Nanaimo (I think) on Vancouver Island, and camping in Banff.

Vancouver Island is AWESOME
Victoria, Nanaimo, Port Renfrew. Just amazing. The ferry (either from Anacortes, WA, or Tswassen, BC) is great.
I took one ferry from Washington (don't remember where)
to the island, and then one ferry from the island to Vancouver. I really liked Long Beach (is that what it was called? on the east side of the island) and the rainforest. It was a while ago so I’m a bit vague on the names.
Victoria was great as well.
Had tea at the Empress Hotel on my parents’ anniversary a few years back. Very British, very fun.

Question:
Is Dex limited to pinch running right now, or has he been replaced by CarGo? I’d really like to see Smith-Fowler-Gonzalez in the outfield.
I assume we'll see CarGo in center for a while
and Smith in left. I doubt Tracy will mess with Hawpe in right, unless its a chance to get Hawpe a night off.
Or Tracy starts platooning Dex and CarGo again…

Part of the problem
is that among our top four outfielders, three are left-handed and the fourth is a switch hitter. So it’s tough to platoon guys.

Only thing I can think of is Tracy switches in Dex against lefties for whichever of them is slumping at the time.
That being said, I think Dex is kinda stuck in a pinch-hit/run role right now, similar to what Smith was before.

Agreed.
Unless Seth or CarGo goes into a big tailspin, Dex is kinda the odd man out for now. I really really REALLY wish Tracy would move CarGo to right and put Dex back in the lineup, especially against lefty pitchers, but benching a veteran for a recently-injured rookie could be bad for the team chemistry.

Didn't Tracy also say recently that he was going to give Brad starts in 5 straight games
against righty pitchers, and than reevaluate? I think we’re still within that.
Well, CarGo and Smith have been great at the top of the lineup,
so you can’t take either of them out for Dex.
And Tracy doesn’t seem like he’s going to be benching Hawpe anytime soon.
So as far as I can tell there just isn’t a spot for Dex unless CarGo or Smith really cools off.
Though I agree that a Smith-Dex-CarGo outfield would be ideal.
And would give Brad some much-needed rest.
where would you bat Dex though in that lineup?
eighth? That’s the only position that he seems to fit, or do a La Russa and bat him ninth
Dex leadoff, CarGo second, Mr. Late Night fifth.

But I can get the #1 rated Hefe right here in Austin, Live Oak Hefe. It is tough to get a good Hefe. The german stuff is bad by the time it gets here and so many US brewers mess it up. Check out beeradvocate.com and look at their ratings.
