If it wasn’t after dropping two against the Padres and if we wern’t closing our eyes and swinging at everything.
Its not that we are losing against the best pitcher in the national league
its that we are not even putting up a fight. Also the last three with the Padres were far from great pitchers either. I’m not panicking yet, but there are reasons to be concerned.

a big part was they were brothers…comics…they were not. Maverick was not asian, and not some kinda hit man. He just had a weak healing factor in the comics

The brothers part made sense..
because of the rapid healing and animal-like actions. It also made for a good matchup and reason to hate each other. SilverFox and Wraith’s charactors were good except the powers weren’t portrayed exactly as the comics did.

I don't know about that.
Would he have made Street pitch well from the start, or kept Corpas from sucking? Also, there were all those games on the road at the beginning. I don’ t doubt that the team loosened up and played better when Hurdle was fired, but I don’t think Tracy deserves as much credit as he gets.
This team isn't 64-34 under Tracy by accident
Would Tracy bench Tulo for swinging at the first pitch right down the middle of the plate? Would Tracy jerk Corpas and Street around so that both were uptight and scared to make a mistake? Does Tracy make better decisions in the close games that Hurdle did loose?

I'm not arguing that Tracy is worse than Hurdle.
I’m just saying that he doesn’t deserve as much credit as some people give him. On the other hand, the Rockies might indeed have won an extra 4 games if they had started with him.

Turn this around
Remember Hurdle Benching Tulo for swinging at a first pitch. A managers job is more then just making pitching changes and strategy, he also controls the clubhouse and tries to get the most out of his players. Such things can’t be measured, but you can clearly see their effect.

I think it also has to do with
the players feeling badly that Hurdle was fired…(except maybe Tulo). But Tracy seems to have figured
out when to push the buttons differently. He seems to have respect for his players and they for him

And when he was extending them way too much it was fear of that awful bullpen that we used to have, for which no one can blame him.
Sometimes it bugs me, but more often than not, it had worked, and you can’t blame everything on fatigue, Marquis is doing way better than career averages in the second half.

Maybe it’s just selective memory, but when given a clean inning, he might let a guy on, but he finishes them off. When asked to clean up a big mess, that hit he might allow tends to hurt more.

The Giants offense has not been great. They are using up all their runs tonight.

not to be pessimistic, but the Rockies could easily get swept, especially as poorly as the offense has been playing…and the way the Rockies schedule plays out…it does not look good.

What the heck is the problem with this team's offense?
Am I being too emotional by blaming Baylor?
Stewart- hasn’t gotten better this season.
Iannetta- has regressed this season.
Hawpe- Can’t get out of a second half slump.
Barmes- Has no game plan at the plate and can’t lay off breaking pitches.
Atkins- Regressed a long way…cant figure it out.
At what point does this fall on the hitting coach?

The Rockies are leading the league in runs...
believe it or not, they’re not doing it by magic, if you’re ready to assign blame, assign credit too. Carlos Gonzalez was terrible with Oakland. Tulowitzki’s rescued his career and Seth Smith has gone from being a fourth outfielder to a legitimate everyday threat.
Tulo's also a big 2nd half hitter
He rebounded very nicely last year as well, and in 2007.
Smith has steadily improved every year, Baylor or no. Not discrediting Baylor, but is it because of him?
Gonzalez – nothing to say there, credit Baylor, I won’t argue with it.
That said, it IS hard to argue with the most runs in the NL.

Tulo absolutely is a credit to Baylor
He’ll tell you himself if we ever get you the chance to ask him directly as changes Baylor made to his stance have been a much larger reason for his resurgence than being a second half hitter. Smith too credits Baylor for a lot of his improvement this season. I’m mainly just suggesting, however, that taking a basket of bad examples only and ignoring altogether the good ones will typically leave one with a bad impression overall.

It’s tough to know how to balance the blame and the credit. We are terrible situational hitters, or so it seems, and it’s killing us in these matchups with good pitchers.

Stewart is 24, lots of room to improve
Iannetta is somewhat inexplicable, I feel it’s a delayed sophomore slump
Hawpe has always been a bad 2nd half hitter
Barmes has always been that way
Atkins has been on the slide since 2007, I made a fanpost about it this offseason. Bat speed slowed, trying to hack his way out of it, etc.
I have no opinion on Baylor. I don’t think he’s been a good thing, I don’t think he’s been a bad thing. I wouldn’t weep over a new hitting coach coming to town.
