Baseball America ranks Nolan Arenado, Chris Balcom-Miller as #8, #9 prospects in Pioneer League

In their just-released Pioneer League Rankings, Baseball America ranked Nolan Arenado #8 and Chris Balcom-Miller #9 in their top-20 rankings. You need to be a subscriber to read their scouting reports, but Nolan Arenado has future power potential and Chris Balcom-Miller gets compared to, um, Jason Marquis. Balcom-Miller, the report informs us, needs his changeup to get better to avoid being a bullpen arm.

Arenado and Balcom-Miller were the only players from Casper to make the list.

Their will be a chat at 3 to answer questions, and I'm submitting a bunch of questions.

Matt Eddy answered

my question about Eliezer Mesa: Well bellow-average power, refining bunting skills, a reserve outfielder.

Perhaps this is a sign I need to visit my grandparents next summer

to see the Cedar Rapids Kernels. There’s an awful lot of Angels farmhands on that list

Lotta Dbacks farmhands, too,

and Paul Goldschmidt just missed the list.

Answered

a question on CBM, said he liked the Marquis comparison, would slot Marquis in as a $ or #5 on a championship team, and should be happy to get something like that out of a 6th round pick.

CBM is money

I like it

Though it seems he’s not as enamored with CBM as many Rockies writers
