Greg Reynolds made his debut in Arizona and pitched well. He ran into a bit of trouble in the third when he allowed a Grant Green triple to start the inning. A ground out then scored Green. Overall, Reynolds allowed four hits in three innings, walked one, and struck out one. Rex Brothers also made his debut, allowing a run on three hits and striking out one in the fifth inning.

Thomas Field started at shortstop and struck out three times in four at-bats. Charlie Blackmon also went 0-for-4, but he did reach on fielding error in the seventh and eventually moved around the diamond to score Sottsdale's lone run.
