Clint Hurdle Named Manager of the Pittsburgh Pirates

16

The former Rockies' manager sure has landed on his feet. After being fired in May 2009, Hurdle walked into an analyst position for MLB Network, then moved on to be the hitting coach for the AL Champion Texas Rangers, who led MLB in batting average. He was a hot name this offseason, as he quickly became the frontrunner for the Pirates position and was in the running to replace Jerry Manuel as the Mets' manager. Ken Rosenthal is reporting Hurdle's deal with Pittsburgh is for three years. While Hurdle struggled to effectively manage a talented contending team in Colorado at the end of his tenure, he is an ideal fit to handle a youth movement.
