Kazuo Matsui signed with Rakuten in Japan.
Troy Renck (in responding on Twitter to our own Andrew T. Fisher) says that the Rockies should go after Gavin Floyd if Jorge De La Rosa, as expected, signs with another team. Renck suggests that were he the GM, he would have made a stronger push to retain De La Rosa. In a subsequent tweet he indicates that the White Sox are genuinely interested in Ian Stewart, as was hinted at last week, as a centerpiece in a Floyd trade. I still think it's a fair exchange, and that the Rockies will find it easier to replace Stewart this winter than they would finding a pitcher of Floyd's level. Carl Pavano isn't it, neither is Jon Garland.
Time for me to get back to work on some food. Enjoy your holiday, everybody.
