Each year we look back on the season of the Colorado Rockies, and I thought it would be fun to look back on this season of Purple Row. The Game Threads are what made me fall in love with PR and so I scoured the Game Wraps and tabulated the number of games a user participated in and how often they achieved Centurion status to show who our all-stars were. I also searched for the most recced posts and pics which I have included below.

SDCat09 was our Brett Favre this year posting in nearly every game. She also achieved centurion status in nearly a third of her game threads! I also included mine and PIPs centurion games we achieved from our mobile devices since it has never been done before. I don't know about PIP, but I had to ice my thumbs after that game!

These were the most Rec’d posts of the 2010 Game Threads. Of course they came from some of the most memorable game threads of the season. I love the pics that users create and share. I found the most Rec'd pics this season from Ubaldo's no-no and other memorable games. Click on the post's header to view the pic/post inside the original gamethread.

TOP POSTS:
Ubaldo -

"It’s starts like these that are the reason that we shouldn’t place Jimenez above such pitchers as Cliff Lee and Roy Halladay, both pitchers who have performed at a higher level this season than Jimenez."

Because starts like Roy Halladay’s eight hit, two walk, six run gem against the Yankees are a true mark of dominance, or maybe he’s talking about his May 12th start against us.
I think what the SABR crowd is missing so far isn’t that Ubaldo’s the most dominant at the top of his game, it’s that he’s the most dominant at the bottom of it. When he’s bad, and today’s about as close as he’s come outside the rain shortened game, he’s still in absolute control.

All year long, Ubaldo Jimenez has picked up the Colorado Rockies. Tonight, for the first time, the Colorado Rockies picked up Ubaldo Jimenez. What a huge win for this team!!!!! I’ve been waiting for one like it all year long.
Oh, and the fact that it was Papelbon who we lit up like a Christmas tree just makes it that much sweeter.

Get well soon Tulo. The Rockies need you.

What is everyone else's favorite moments on PR this season?

I loved this map posted by RIRF. It went along with this post by airforcefoo:

ESPN producer 1: Hey look at this play by the Rockies’ center fielder
ESPN producer 2: Who the hell are the Rockies?
Producer 1: The Colorado baseball team.
Producer 2: We’re not putting a minor league highlight on the show.
Producer 1: It’s a major league team.
Producer 2: Well, that’s stupid.
John Kruk: Why aren’t the Braves playing tonight? They win the Wild Card last year and they get a schedule that gives them off days on Saturday. Where’s the respect?

I know it's kind of surprising isn't it?

I was surprised to see myself with 3, I only remembered hitting it once. Here’s a list of all of the Rowcalls. I had to combine the names into one and use a website to count them. To tabulate the centurions I viewed the page source and counted the number of names that had bolding brackets.

It only took me three months and I was surprised to see how many Centurions were on the list..

I didn’t include Muzia on the list because there were around 100 users that achieved Centurion status. So I used double digits as the arbitrary cutoff.

Well that was kind of my point

In RI only a very small percentage of ST games are televised making it really difficult to follow. I’m not saying I don’t pay attention at in ST but there’s not nearly enough going on during those six weeks to completely draw my attention away from something else. It’s a start but it’s not the real thing. That’s why my sig counts down the number of days to opening day, not the start of ST.

I'd guess dbacks but I'm not sure.

And I love listening to ST games on the radio- even if it’s on weekends only.

I have one recorded from two years ago, and started listening to it, but so many players are gone from then and I kinda got sad.
Might bust it out anyway, though.

I believe in the future, the reality of the present, the sweet memories of the past, living is more than breathing, spring will came if we wait, patiently, believing, hoping. But the winter is long and we must endure its cold. I believe in the future, the reality of what is to come, the sweet memories that are yet to occur, probably, eventually, someday.

And I believe in hope and anticipation: the idea that we’ll meet again, and counting down the days until we do.

It was a great year on PR.

Definitely a fun season.
My fingeres are recovering from alll the mobile posting I did, haha.

It’s bad and good that we had no major civil war (a.k.a. the Great Catcher War of 2009), but rather the ungreat LOLHUMIDOR WAR.

One of the my favorite moments this year was the “What the heck is a Twitter?” joke, though highly overused (39 times to be exact).

The OT’s were fun, crazy, wacky. One of my favorite moments:

Me and my sis are watching what she calls "the best movie we’ve ever seen." Heh.
No popcorn, but Lemonheads and friends.

is there a bag of meat
by Muzia on Aug 16, 2010 2:43 PM MDT up reply actions

naw
Me to sis just now: We need to find a bag of meat
Sis: A bag of meat?! Why?
Me: To eat!
Sis: ha, it rhymes! But why? You’re weird.
by prettyinpurple on Aug 16, 2010 2:51 PM MDT via mobile up reply actions

you know something? SHE’S WEIRD
The OT: All that AND a bag of meat.
by frightened inmate #2 on Aug 16, 2010 2:51 PM MDT up reply actions

I wish I had a bag of meat
A bag of meat for me to eat
I should just get up on my feet
And make myself a tasty treat
But, but, for the love of Pete
I only want a bag of meat
Without it my day is not complete
You know what would be really sweet?
If somebody delivered bags of meat!

Man

I only posted in 17 game threads? I feel like I’m failing…wish that my computer actually would be able to run Purple Row without being slow, or that I had a computer in my room :(

Some hope?

You could

always run mobile.purplerow.com on a regular computer to make it go faster. You wouldn’t have auto-update on comments however.

Which indicates

rockiesfan4ever would have been 12 (if the 14 number quoted earlier is correct and the birthday does not occur between March and May)

My favorite moments

were the mock game we called during a rain delay with RMN and everyone else. After that I started studying Fraiser’s commentary during games and came up with great jokes for him. Can I also say he is really an idiot.

I also loved all of the Ubaldo/most interesting man in the world jokes.

I visited probably close to 100 GT's,

but didn’t post becasue of a self-induced ban after I ruined about 4 games in a row. Rockies were ahead late, I posted in the thread, Rockies lose.

This year I should be able to watch the game on my computer instead of follwing the boxscores on Yahoo. I’ll still be here if I’m watching though. Here’s to joining the expat following of the Row!
