Calling ALL Rockies fans in Missouri
My family of 5 living in St. Louis can't be the only HUGE Rockies fans here in Missouri. If I hear "Cardinals Nation" one more time I think I'll puke. The Rockies have been around since 1993, they are starting to make a mark in the MLB at being an elite team, lets start the spread of "Purple Nation" further east, heck maybe even take over Kansas City as their favorite baseball team.
Let Missouri Rockies fans be heard, Rockies play the Royals in KC in mid/late May, and the Rockies will end their season with 4 big games here in St. Louis to end the season.
Lets not be pushed around no more, get out and show your PURPLE!
If you are in Missouri, or even anywhere else other than Colorado let your sprite show this season!
Eat. Drink. Be Merry. But the above FanPost does not necessarily reflect the attitudes, opinions, or views of Purple Row's staff (unless, of course, it's written by the staff [and even then, it still might not]).

Can't say I'm a Missouri Rockies fan
but I am taking the battle further east.

Wow - visits are almost entirely dependent on how the team is doing. Look at early 2009 season for example!
put a good team out, the people will believe
This just proves that the Rockies fans are getting excited for the 2010 season, and word is getting out about the Rockies. I bet they well surpass their most visits this year! I’m going to bookmark it just to see if it does.

About Time
Ive been suffering in KCMO for my whole life trying to get any Rockies stuff I can. I am aiming to be at all 3 games in KC but it might be crrepy if I said I was meeting someone there (Im 16). Im all for a get together though during the game or buying seats in a section if anyone else is able to go.
Some hope?

KCMO
Rockies fans are Rockies fans, any age, I will have 5 strong there for the KCMO games. People around me in St. Louis give me a hard time because I fly my Rockies flag outside on game nights, three times it has came up missing…oh well the price you pay for being a fan! I don’t have tickets but I would just say meet up outside the main enterence when the gates open, we all will be in our Rockies jersey’s! Maybe a TULO chant can get going there.

Ya
I may be able to get away or go alone (heaven forbid lol) but I should be repping my Bichette jersey for the series. I don’t have tickets yet but I know I’m going lol, there’s no way I would miss this. Let’s just hope that it’s better than last time

Yeah guys I gotta warn you
if they’re playing the Royals, there’s a good chance of agonizing pain.
I can haz NL West title in 2010? And for that matter, the damn 2010 season to START?
I remember
Last time we played them, ugh

Ya
I was just looking that up. They aren’t available yet but Im hoping to get aleast one game in the field box (the $25) area around the LF pole. I sat there last year and it’s really cool because the Rox pen should be right next to the pole (It was that way last time)
Some hope?

dugout
It would be cool to sit behind the Rox dugout, but not really affordable for a family of 5, so we will be in the cheap seats, but we will be loud!

Ya
Same here. We sat 1 game behind the dugout and then 2 out by the pole last year

Number 46!!!
At least I get to see the entire season opening series =) And then its back to as if they never existed, until the MLB network gives them their necessary sound bite of 45 seconds. Still 45 more then ESPN though =)
Went to school in Rolla
for 4 years, and I was suprised how far Cardinals Nation spreads. Pretty much from Indiana to Oklahoma, and Iowa to Tenessee. I always got a hard time in my house for rooting for the Rookies. I went to a Rockies game in STL with about 45 of my frat brothers and they gave me a pretty hard time until Castilla homered and the good guys won.
Been debating going to KC for the 3 game series and give a razzing to a few of my fraternity buddies who are big Royals fans. I will have to see what my work schedule looks like for the middle of May.

A hypothetical question
If you live in a town where there is a local minor league team, but no major league team for at least, say, 100 miles, would the natural thing be to:
- support the minor league team
- support the major league team to whom the minor league team is affiliated, and maybe take in the occasional MiLB game
- support a major league team which may or may not be nearby, and ignore the MiLB team?
I am trying to equate the logic of fan support with how it works for soccer in the UK, where there is a stronger sense of supporting your local team even if they happen to be small, or unsuccessful, or in a lower league. I think this is falling apart a bit these days, as the big clubs develop stronger and stronger marketing machines, and success is seen as the be all and end all.
From my observations
When I spent time in Charleston SC, where they have a single-A affiliate of the Yankees and are about 6 hours away from Atlanta, most people I saw were Braves fans, not Yankees fans. The RiverDogs tried to play it up like people coming there should be Yankees fans and hated the Red Sox, but I didn’t see a lot of evidence of that.
I think it ultimately depends on whether your parents are fans of a specific team. If they don’t have affiliations, then it’s sort of a crapshoot as to where they land. Maybe they go to a minor league game and root for the parent team; maybe their friend roots for a particular team, so they do also; maybe they just root for the team that’s doing the best when they start paying attention. I don’t think there’s one situation that encompasses everyone, or even a majority.

I think it often depends on the people
My cousin lives very near the Omaha Royals and my paternal extended family live mere blocks from the home stadium for the Single-A Cedar Rapids Kernels (Angels). They are all Cubs fans.

Most people in Salt Lake City seem to
root for the Bees, but not the Angels. They do get Rockies games on their FSN network most of the time, so most baseball fans flock to our market.

They are on sale and I heard the KC Star was doing a promo for $6 off of any ticket for the series.
