Purple Row Thank You Card

So by now we have all heard the news. Todd Helton is a freakin' Saint, the Rockies are going to dominate the West until the End of Time, and we now have the greatest FO in the Division (and one of the best in baseball)

Perhaps this is the adrenaline talking (or a side effect of the drugs) but I would love to create a Thank-You card from all of us to Todd. Please use this space for your comments, ideas, brainstorms, etc.

Eat. Drink. Be Merry. But the above FanPost does not necessarily reflect the attitudes, opinions, or views of Purple Row's staff (unless, of course, it's written by the staff [and even then, it still might not]).

Or do one of those cliche things where 100 people sit in a square each with their own poster and then all hold them up at the same time to make a GIANT square.

But it still applies to everyone else in the stadium. On any given day, how many people who know of Purple Row are at Coors?

This needs to be made

into a poster and spread throughout Coors on Opening Day. I also agree with Russ a .com is necessary

Awesome

I’m a fan of
a) Printing out cards/sheets for a bunch of folks on Opening Day
and/or
b) Taking out the background so it can be put on a gigantic sheet and plastered in signatures.

Also, c) I also think it needs a .com.

Dear Mr. Helton

I have been a huge fan since your rookie season and have enjoyed every minute of it. Your ability to keep an at-bat alive and foul of tough pitches and then end it all with a hit is like nothing I have ever seen before. You also are an immense talent on the defensive side, with magical scoop after magical scoop. You make every infield defense better, and give every guy around you confidence to make any throw.

Besides all of that, you are a humble man that has been a stellar role model since you stepped foot in Denver. You are a man of character, and at the same time keep the clubhouse lively with your dry wit. I guess I can sum it all up by saying, your immense baseball talent is only surpassed by your incredible class.

Sometimes it more than just baseball.

We sometimes might take alot of things for granted….
Todd
In early 2007, I reluctantly finalized paperwork to facilitate my unavoidable divorce. It was by far, the darkest point in my life. Baseball was a distraction and a much needed outlet, My love life had failed so I nurished my second love. Rockies baseball!! It was great. I had a lot of time on my hands. Which allowed me to catch ever game. Pitch by pitch, enjoying the boys and Todd father work through the “young” season.
I was so excited seeing the prospects of Adkins, Tulo, Barmes, Hawpe, Sullivan and Spilly come together and give it their all every game. I so hoped they would be able to compete with the NL West this year.
As the year progressed, I needed to sell my house. I worked downtown, gas prices skyrockected, it seemed reasonable for me to move downtown. So I rented a studio, while my house was on the market. I moved in on August 1, 2007. Digging my new surroundings I would catch ever game I could. It had been about a week, or so when I was at a downtown bar, and notice Addy, Spilly and Cory sitting in a booth. No one really seemed to notice them. I was amazed. But these guys were not every day names to the casual fan at the time. But like I said I followed the team religously and did not need their jersey to tell who they were. (except Spilly, I remember I knew the face but could not place it) I politely walked up and introduced myself, shook hands with each of them, Addy’s hand engulfed mine they were huge. Exchanged pleasantries, I told them I enjoyed watching them play and that they had just made my day. Cory graciously said I had just made his. I then returned to my stool, feeling on top of the world. A very short time later, it becames clear who they were and a gaggle of women dress to kill now surrounded them. Looking back on it, I like to think I did them a favor! And then a month later on September 18th You hit the 2 run HOMERUN off the untouchable closer Takashi Saito. Seeing you trow your helmet and jump in the awiating arms of the Rockies, was my baseball moment.
I can’t put into words what I have gotten from watching you and the Rockies that year. I know that the dedication, and work ethic you bring was and foundation for the success we all realished in 07 and will continue to realish in the future.
For along time I took happiness for granted. When it left me, just by going out and doing what you do. Day in and day out, allowed me to get by and have something consistant to look foward to. Because of you, I eventually got over my ex wife and began to live again.

For that, I will always be thankful to you.

Sincerely
Glen
