Giants 9, Rockies 2; Manny Corpas and Randy Flores open the floodgates as Rox lose again...
An effective outing by Jorge De La Rosa was overshadowed by poor performances by two Rockies relievers that are stil hopeful of making the opening day roster as Colorado lost to the San Francisco Giants 9-2 on Friday afternoon. De La Rosa became the first Rockies starter to go four innings this Spring, giving up just two runs on four hits while striking out three and registering seven of eight outs in play via groundballs. Corpas allowed four more runs in an ineffective fifth inning, and the Giants tacked on three more off of Flores, who couldn't get out of his assigned inning, leaving with the bases loaded and two outs in the seventh. Edgmer Escalona got the final out of that inning and pitched a scoreless eighth, Justin Speier and Matt Reynolds also contributed scoreless innings of relief for the Rockies.
On offense, Ian Stewart collected two hits, but also had one of three Rockies errors of the day in the loss. Jason Giambi made his Cactus League debut and went hitless in one at bat.

I've had my fill of Spring Training
I’m ready for real baseball.

I want them to make some cuts already
I need to see more of Greg Reynold’s and Deduno’s pitching rather than some AA minor leaguers. Think this is how innings are allotted as spring training progress.
1 Week- A minor leaguers and injured players
2 Week- AA minor leaguers and injured players
3 Week- AAA minor leaguers and former top picks.cough cough..Reynolds & Weathers
4 Week- MLB club team and bench players full time practice games
And then the players are cut the same way, I guess. A Minor League players first, then AA, followed by AAA and last but not least former draft picks :)
Anybody else want to see some more Reynolds, Deduno and Weathers (if possible)?
Making facetious trade rumors since 2012AD
i listened for a just a few minutes while Flores was on the mound
It sounded like this team was falling apart at the seams. Jay Payton over ran a catchable flyball, Flores threw one away and Hererra booted a routine groundball. I guess that’s why they have spring training.
This guy starts me off with a breaking ball...
l'm taking him downtown.
