I love baseball cards and still collect them
However I do agree with the article. They are trying to be too fancy with the new cards and make them cost too much. I try to stick to the traditional Topps/Upper Deck cards (the others are apparently almost gone). I will go out of my way to get “fancy” Todd Helton cards because he is the one player that I collect specifically. Otherwise it is collect as many Rockies cards as possible.

Birthday gift
My birthday falls on opening day this year. Yes….I’m older than a lot of you (41) but the ONE thing that I still ask for (when asked what I want) is a couple of packs of cards. I have at least one card for every year that I was born.

People just aren't as interested in baseball cards as they used to

I do think that most people have interest in getting their favorite players NOW and not waiting to to see if they get them in packs. On demand society .
