Rockies 11, Angels 10: Rockies rally in ninth to win

You've probably read all the recaps of this game already, but to rehash all of it:

  1. Eric Young Jr.--clutch. We still spilly Spilly. Wilin Rosario hits homers.
  2. Jeff Francis had less-than-desired results during the first couple of innings.
  3. The Rockies won.

Anything else?

they reallyt were sitting on that fastball

Three of those second inning doubles were carbon copies pulled down the line. Mora moved to five feet off the line, which would under normal circumstances seem absolutely ridiculous. Since he rarely got changeups over, I guess I’m not surprised for the handful of times the Angels swung before the pitch got halfway home.

so did Francis look bad?

i didnt have seats in position to judge his stuff

He was missing consistently in the first two innings, predominantly with his changeup. That left the Angels sitting on his fastball and they really hit him very hard. so yeah, I guess bad is fairly accurate, but it isn’t as if he was far from being an effective pitcher. If he was able to get the changeup over with more consistency, the hitters couldn’t have waited for one pitch, and everything would have been different. Conclusion: he looked bad, but it doesn’t specifically concern me going forward

radio also mentioned

that his curveball wasn’t sharp at all and thus they could sit fastball. His fast ball was then left up in the zone with little movement and he got hit fairly hard.

Can't wait for baseball in Denver! T-minus two weeks . . .

. . . but since I can’t wait that long, I’m going to Tucson for a quick three-day trip next week.

Had to check out Hi Corbett one last time . . . memories . . .
