whats up with Greg Reynolds
I cant follow this like I did- but whats in the plans for Greg Reynolds?
Triple A again?????
I guess I have to waste words tp 75 to be a valuable poster. Whats up in Colorado.
I am in California. I heard some bad weather coming to us, so you all should get it too.
I hope it doesn't rain or even snow out your home opener
Best of luck to the Rockies- except when they play the Cardinals

Reynolds
missed last year due to injury and had an outside shot of being a sixth starter this Spring. Unfortunately, he took a line drive off his elbow in batting practice, causing a bone chip. He’s progressing back to throwing again, but he’ll be back in AAA. The big league rotation is pretty darn set, so even if he impresses in AAA, he needs an injury to get into the big league rotation

pretty much this
I feel terrible for the guy, that injury in AA really wrecked his pitching abilities, and then the callup wrecked his confidence
I hope we can get him healthy, trade him, and he has a passable career as a #5 somewhere else.

I think baseball fans in general need to stop using the words "trade" and "#5" pitcher in connection with each other.
If you’re that down on Reynolds, and logically, I could certainly see why you or anybody else would be, then you could show wisdom by excising the idea of a trade return from your mind completely. I know that it can happen, we got Contreras for Hynick last season, for instance, but you would probably be better off assuming that he’ll eventually depart as a FA and latch on somewhere as an NRI and then be pleasantly surprised if we are able to move him for something useful. Plus it would keep you from overvaluing his trade appeal and you could see why a Contreras type of return would make sense.
However, that said, I don’t see a rush to push Reynolds out the door, yet. Let’s give him a clean slate and see what he makes of it.
I'm basically regurgitating what Troy Renck told me
that they want to get Reynolds healthy and see if there’s any trade value there. That’s literally all I meant out of it.

Additionally, with Fanposts
If you just have 15 words worth to say, it’s probably better that you post as a comment in a Rockpile, plenty of people will be happy to answer there as well.
Yes, I know, I’m the Fanpost nazi, “don’t worry about RMN, he’s just a big blowhard” or something like that, but all of the SBNation sites frown on “just filling 75 words” to finish a Fanpost. We intend these to be outlets for larger commentary, individual research, or something showing 75 words worth of some sort of work/effort.
So that admonishment aside, welcome to the community, please feel welcome to participate in our Rockpile/Feature Article/Gamethread discussions, that’s where all the fun REALLY is!

The rules
here state that you shouldn’t use filler, but then no one reads the rules.

I do
but only when you post them on the FP to remind everyone. Otherwise I just remember.

Time to update the rules.

why the arbitrary word limit?
I’ve never done a FP and likely never will, so not really much of a concern to me. Just that it seems that the standard should be value/interest of the comment, and not the amount of words used to convey it. I look at these as independent topics that deserve separate discussion from the often-overwhelming amount of posts in rockpiles or whatever, and this seems like fair enough game to me.
I know when I wasn't on staff and writing FanPosts
I was frustrated when someone would work hard and write a FanPost that was just asking a question, or saying “Stephen Strasburg is overrated. You’ll all see. Filler filler filler…” which pushed my FanPost off the front page. Anything less than 75 words can easily just be made a comment somewhere. The point of FanPosts is essentially for community members to write stories as if they are on Staff.

I Say
Cut him loose and forget any of it ever happened, he has no value. Let him try and reach a roster spot and a team much thinner in SP because it’s not going to happen here, there’s no room for him anymore and each year we pile more guys who will be in the bigs before he is again. All I think of when I hear of Greg Reynolds is what could have been with that draft position and that we literally came out with nothing, his college stats weren’t impressive at all and I guess his 6-7 frame and pitching for the last month of his final season in Stanford was enough to hypnotize Colorado to take him way too early. One of the uglier chapters in Rockies history that should be closed sooner rather then later.
Clem Johnson? That skin bag wouldn't have lasted one pitch in the old Robot Leagues! Now Wireless Joe Jackson, there was a blern hitting machine!
I don't think that makes us better right now
Don’t forget Reynolds had a fantastic year at AA Tulsa in 2007 before injuries hit him. He was rushed to the bigs in 2008 and his confidence was shot, then lost last year and this spring to injuries. Essentially, the last time he was in a situation ideal for him to succeed, he did. He is only 24, and if his luck turns, he could still be a valuable pitcher at some point. There’s no guarantee that Chacin, Rogers, Deduno and company will pan out, so the more talented young arms you have, the better.
