Rockies 4, Diamondbacks 1: Pitchers tame Snakes at Hi Corbett
While Franklin Morales pitched at his cellar level across town, the three Rockies on the mound at Hi Corbett Field pitched showcased their ceiling-caliber stuff.
Aaron Cook got five ground ball outs over three scoreless innings, allowing just two singles. Samuel Deduno, the 2009 AA Texas League Pitcher of the Year featured filthy stuff is striking out three in two innings, allowing one unearned run on a Clint Barmes error. Manny Corpas struck out three of the first four men he faced and retired four of five.
Cole Garner continued his solid spring with an RBI single, Carlos Gonzalez drove in two and Mike Paulk added the final tally. Melvin Mora added two doubles, and Chris Nelson came in as a reserve, notching two singles and a stolen base.
The game was called with one out in the top of the seventh inning due to rain. Randy Flores and Christian Friedrich missed their chances to pitch today.

I don't. (and I don't want to, really.)
I could never finish it. I just can’t handle this type of fear.

Nah, it's okay.
Now I have an excuse to not finish it.
Saved by the buoyancy of citrus.
it's a seriously overrated film
I have a friend who claims it as his favorite movie ever and..well…let’s just say I gave him something to think about. ;)
Iron Maiden? Excellent!
There's only one movie that I like that had Jack Nicholson in it.
Chinatown. So I might be biased in disliking it.

I was writing about Chinatown earlier this semester.

It is indeed, Muzia.
It is indeed.
Saved by the buoyancy of citrus.
I didn't enjoy it until I studied it.
The thing is so subconsciously complex, even by Kubrickian standards.

are you talking about the Native American motif?
some of the subtlety seems incomplete to me, and 30 minutes of the film is completely wasted. Not to mention issues I have with the casting in the first place. It’s one of my least favorite Kubrick films
Iron Maiden? Excellent!
The Native American stuff is completely conscious.
I’m talking about the really crazy stuff. Like Kubrick’s alterations to the floorplan, the zigzag patterns, the invisible elevators, the “marking” of certain locations… when I realized for the first time that the place that Jack Nicholson bounces the ball on the ground was the exact spot he would late kill Scatman Crothers, then threw the ball to exactly where Shelly Duvall would be looking in from… I was hooked.

I knew the floorplan changes, but I had no clue about the ball bouncing
I still enjoy the movie, and Kubrick is absolutely THE MAN. I just don’t think it’s one of the greatest horror films, nor is it at the top of Kubrick’s best.
Iron Maiden? Excellent!
I wouldn't put it there either, but I do have a bigger respect for it than you do.

I have never been able to sit through an entire viewing
of Silence of the Lambs. I can handle it in bits and pieces but altogether
freaks me out!!

precisement.
That’s the type of fear I mean. But Silence of the Lambs was actually a good movie.

Notes
I’ve gone to the games yesterday and today (in Tucson), and there are a few lighthearted comments I have to say:
1. Spring Training is incredible. It’s like going to minor league baseball game where your favorite players make cameos.
2. Samuel Deduno was filthy. I’d heard in the past that his stuff is nasty but he can’t control it; I don’t know what he did today, but there were some off-speed pitches he threw that had batters all the way around before the ball hit the catcher’s mitt.
3. Who was playing first base at the end of today’s game!?!?!? His name was not in my program. He was HUGE. The largest person I have ever seen playing baseball. I would estimate he was at least 6’6, 270, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he was over 6’8. I spent most of the latter half of the game heckling him, then left (due to rain) right before he hit.
4. Tim Redding sucks.
5. Why did we invite Jay Payton to Spring Training?
6. Eric Young can and should make the transition to second.
7. Cole Garner is really fun to watch. What’s his deal? In fact, for all the hype that we give our pitchers, I was really impressed by some of our prospect hitters. This may have been because I am getting more and more upset with Chacin for not striking everyone out all the time.
Brad Eldred was the first baseman at the end of the game
He got a late NRI but has no future with the Rockies

He's actually not an NRI.
He was just brought up from minor league camp because of the split squad game today.

That's what I get for posting during the Academy Awards
I didn’t mean NRI. He was very recently signed though
