Rockies 12, Dodgers 0: The Smiths prove to be the boys with the thorn in the Dodgers' side

Every Rockie who participated offensively reached base at least once (except for Mike Paulk), and five pitchers combined for a three-hitter as the Rockies dominated the Dodgers in every facet of the game on their way to a 12-0 drubbing of their division rival.

On the hill, Greg Smith shut down the Dodgers for three innings, yielding two hits and a walk while striking out three. Ubaldo Jimenez started the game and didn't allow a run in three innings, despite allowing three walks. He was a little bit better this time out than last time, though, as he struck out two and only allowed one hit. Justin Speier was terrific in a quick inning of work, inducing a pop up and two strikeouts as part of his 1-2-3 frame. Matt Reynolds and Andrew Johnston then closed out the Dodgers with consecutive hitless innings.

Offensively, Seth Smith went 3-for-4 with two doubles and three runs batted in. And, as mentioned above, there were plenty of other contributors in the rout. The Rockies got extra base hits out of Smith, Clint Barmes, Paul Phillips, Wilin Rosario, and Jonathan Herrera.

Rowcall and more after the jump...

IIRC, the game will be replayed tonight on MLBN

Not in the east, it isn't

Maybe it’s a case of boas against western teams, but here in the eastern time zone, we’re getting the Astros and Mets at 11 p.m. I’m watching Seinfeld.

30 Clubs in 30 Days has the Rox on 3/26 I believe.

regular season they always have 800+ comments for even a basic thread

though I think we have more writers than anyone else, thus more fresh material

Piling on the comments this Spring

Although I daresay that will probably go down as the year progresses and more people can watch so I don’t have to provide play-by-play. Also, I’ll have a job, so fewer gamethreads.

Yeah, I'll probably be in the same boat

Moving to a position with shift work, so depending on the shift, I won’t be able to participate :-(

I’m thankful to at least read the Rockpile during the day, but you won’t find me ’round these parts much for the next few weeks :(

Our hitters are clearly farther along than most other teams'.

This is the part of the Spring where C-level pitching is supposed to still be making hitters look foolish.
