Ubaldo Jimenez throws first no-hitter in Rockies history

Ubaldo Jimenez threw a no-hitter against the Braves tonight!

Jeff will have a much longer game wrap later on, but for now let's all glory in the performance of Ubaldo Jimenez's no-hitter against the Braves. Having shut down Atlanta completely tonight, the Rockies can no longer be counted among the teams without a no-hitter in their club's history. The Tampa Bay (Devil) Rays, the San Diego Padres, and the hapless New York Mets have yet to witness a pitcher throw a no-hitter for them

I wrote that I felt good with U-Ball on the mound tonight. I didn't know it would be that good of a feeling.

GO UBALDO JIMENEZ! GO ROCKIES!

I read something once

About the time between the signal going from your eyes seeing the pitch to your brain deciding what to do and how to swing to your arms finally swinging the bat being well over half the distance the ball would travel. I’d imagine it’s even more ridiculous for Uball.

We need to find some scientists...

who could legally make clones of Ubaldo so that he could pitch every day. That way, we won’t have Hammel collapses (cough, yesteraday, cough)

The other was Chris Bosio for the Mariners. Bosio’s fastball was slower the Ubaldo’s changeup. Un. Freaking. Believable.

If I may, my thoughts on the game

This one came up all Rockies.
1) Two on for chipper – Olivo with a uncharacteristically good defensive play, picks off the pitcher at second.
2) Ubaldo squaring up a base hit with two on.
3) Dex’s amazing catch in the 7th
4) Ubaldo’s uncanny ability to get better the more he pitches, where other pitchers tire.
5) Headwind for fly balls.
6) Arguably the best defensive line-up on the field
7) A team coming off a whooping yesterday with something to prove, against a team who provided said whooping, who may have taken the earlier ABs for granted.

im sure there’s more. Tack on more reasons why tonight was the night

May your summer be filled with Rockies wins and tacos.

Hello Giants fan!

Thanks!

If you’re still around…

I’ll be at AT&T park later this year… got some recommendations for food while I’m there?

by theshiva on Apr 17, 2010 8:34 PM MDT up reply actions

Sorry

I’m from Sacramento and haven’t been back to California in 7-8 years :( I’m in New Mexico right now, going up to Denver for business next month but the Rockies are going to be in San Diego, was hoping to catch a game.

Long story short….no, no recomendations….McCovey Chronicles has food threads from time to time, you might try searching over there.

No problem! Just thought I would ask. I will peek into MCC. :)

Thank you though!
