The 2010 Rockies At-Bat/Walkup Music Thread
I remember last year there was a thread about what music was played at Coors Field in particular players at bat music. I would like to do that again so I will add the ones I know and please feel free to post any that I've missed.
Ryan Spilborghs: Soft Cell - Tainted Love
Troy Tulowitzki: Miley Cyrus - Party In the USA (no idea why)
Todd Helton: Rodney Atkins - These Are My People
Clint Barmes: Nonpoint - In the Air Tonight
Brad Hawpe: Korn - Coming Undone
Seth Smith: D.C. Talk - Jesus Freak
Jason Giambi: WCW nWo Wolfpack theme
Miguel Olivo: DMX - One More Road to Cross
Chris Iannetta: Chevelle - The Red
Melvin Mora: Khriz y Angel- Na De Na
Joe Beimel: Johnny Cash - God's Gonna Cut You Down
Ian Stewart: Jay-Z - A Star is Born; Matisyahu - One Day
Jason Hammel: Three Days Grace - Riot
Paul Phillips: The Outfield - Your Love
Carlos Gonzalez: Timbaland (ft. Drake) - Say Something
Home runs: Venga Boys - We Like to Party (The VengaBus)
Rally Music: Eric Prydz - Call On Me - NSFW (regrettably, this is such a catchy tune)
Eat. Drink. Be Merry. But the above FanPost does not necessarily reflect the attitudes, opinions, or views of Purple Row's staff (unless, of course, it's written by the staff [and even then, it still might not]).

Really? How does one go about requesting that a player use specific walk-up music?
I’ve got some suggestions… ;-)

I belive he said
That there are a lot of young kids and girls that come to the ball park and he likes to appeal and have people of all ages have fun when they come to the ball park.
He also may have said something about a teammates kids or something likeing the song too. Maybe todd heltons girls or something
Not positive but I belive I remember something like that on it.
Atleast its not Beiber
Don't even say that!
He’ll do that next year, and I’ll have to spend his walkups curled in the fetal position. :P

I heard somewhere
i’m not sure where though that his niece died of cancer and it was her favorite song? And thats why he wears the initials on his eye black as well. I’m not sure about that though.
The eye black thing
Is actually for his cousin, Lexi Winters. He did die of cancer I believe.

The sad thing is:
He isn’t the only major leaguer with it this year. There’s at least two others, they were talking about it on the Scott Van Pelt Show.

The Wolfpack theme is a pretty hilarious choice
But someone’s got to bring back Vinny Castilla’s Matador. Now that would be classic.
he had that last year as well
and the Matador should be retired along with Crazy Train.

How about they bring Dante out tonight to "Sledgehammer"?
by MarshallMcCard on Apr 26, 2010 12:15 PM MDT up reply actions
Got to go to the game...
They did it PERFECTLY— they had Alan Roach come back to announce him (“DANT-ayyyyyyyy BICHETTE”) AND, they played Sledgehammer… both as he came out for the ceremony, and then later for the “fans pick a song” game (Sledgehammer was all three choices). From what I can tell, Larry Walker coming out was a complete surprise to him… you could see him saying, “I can’t believe it” on the jumbotron. It was a blast to be able to see in person.
by PurpleJersey on Apr 27, 2010 7:16 AM MDT up reply actions
Is there video of this anywhere?
All I managed to get was Bichette high-fiving everyone in the dugout after the fact.
can't seem to find anything....
maybe something will show up on Youtube at some point. The problem is there were SO few people there! I was surprised.

That's so amazing
Moments like that make me feel like the Rockies are maturing as an organization, especially now with the honoring of past achievements. Can we be that far off from fanfests? Number retiring? Bringing back the Wild Card pennants (we do have 3 of them now)?
And also, major kudos to the Rockies org. for having Alan Roach announce Dante. I heard it on the broadcast and was grinning like an idiot :) . I hope they handle Helton day the same way.
And a final note, whoever decided that Sledgehammer should be all three choices in the pick a song segment should be promoted.
Ian Stewart has been using two
“A Star is Born” by Jay-Z and “One Day” by Matisyahu

The interviewed him yesterday
for the WFK to see how long it was. It was 5" and he said he gets crap about the mullet from opposing teams until he tells them what he’s doing it for. Opposing fans give him crap about it too but they would give him crap anyway.

The only one I know
And I only know it because it is the best walk-up song in baseball: Joe Beimel uses Johnny Cash’s “God’s Gonna Cut You Down”.

I swear I heard Carlos walking up to Say Ahh by Trey Songz on the TV, can anyone confirm this? And I am almost positive Ian changed his song, as he seems to do numerous times throughout the year, but I can’t remember what it was. I will pay attention tonight tho.

but couldn’t remember what it was called. Downgrade from last year, in my opinion (the one and only time I will defend Nickelback, ever).

Did I just hear “Just Dance” by Lady GaGa when Dex was coming up?
I hope not
I’ve heard Dex come up to “Women Lie, Men Lie” by Yo Gotti on several occasions, including on the broadcast tonight
The Colorado Rockies aren't a team, they're an armada.
Wow ! what a bunch of crappy songs
I didn’t know I was this old. I’m only 32 and the song I’m most familiar with is Miley, and only cause I have a 7 yr old daughter. Of course I love johnny Cash, but WTF on the rest of these songs ? What is Cargo’s song ?
I'm still walking, so I'm sure that I can dance
Anybody know the name of the awful techno song
that the team plays during Opening Day introductions?

No it isn't.
I think he means the one they use to intro the whole team, started using it at the 2007 World Series. I can’t think of the name of it, but I have a version at home if I could find it. Of course, I’d prefer the version they have but I can’t find it. I actually think it’s pretty cool.

I always knew there was a reason I liked Seth Smith....
That’s a great song (if you like Christian music, that is).
Also gotta hand it to Beimel, you can’t go wrong with Johnny Cash.

Yes,
Seth Smith is pure awesome. I always sing the words after his clip is played: they never play the words. “What will people think when they hear that I’m a Jesus Freak. What will people do when they find that its true.” Oh, oh.

Another possible switch?
I heard Stewart is now using Airplanes by B.o.B.?
And a question, what’s the song they come out to before the first inning? Thanks! I’d like to make a sweet Rockies CD.
