Old man winter wasn’t the only one looking to make a comeback Wednesday night. Despite temperatures hovering in the mid 30’s and a wintery mix falling from the sky, Jason Hammel returned to the mound to face Jamie Moyer hoping to complete a sweep of the double header. Unfortunately he showed little control as he walked five and gave up a two run 4th inning bomb to Jayson Werth (a thunderous shot over the left field wall) on his way to his third loss of the season.
Meanwhile Jamie Moyer (The ageless one) seemed unaffected by the harsh conditions as he held the Rockies to just one hit over five innings of work. It was Moyer’s first ever win in Colorado and he lowered his career ERA at Coors from 9.00 to 6.19 in the process.
Some of the only sunshine to be found for Rockie fans came off the bat of Troy Tulowitzki as hit his second home run of the season off Brad Lidge in the 9th; a three run blast that cut the deficit to 6-4 and momentarily made the result of this game a little bit foggy. (Where was this home run off Lidge last October Tulo?)
The winds of change were halted however when Ryan Madson came in and got Paul Philips to line out to a diving Jayson Werth to end the game.
Sadly the flood of injuries continued for the Rockies when Clint Barmes got hurt turning a double play in the 6th on a hard slide by (hurricane) Jayson Werth. (Seriously, he caused a lot of damage in this game).
As the Phillies and the cold weather head out of Colorado, the Rockies hope that Jhoulys Chacin can bring the heat tomorrow against the Nats.
Oh, and in case you're confused, this game never actually happened.

My mom asked me what I was doing on the computer
and I said watching a fake game. She looked at me funny. I said, “Its simulated and we are each playing the role of the broadcasters.” She just shook her head, and walked away. I must say, it was one of the silliest, most fun things I’ve done in a LONG time. So thanks, RMN, for that!
