Game #30: Jhoulys Chacin vs. Charlie Haeger

Colorado Rockies at Los Angeles Dodgers, May 8, 2010 8:10 PM MDT

Can PuRP Number 3 Jhoulys Chacin (1-0, 0.00) repeat the one-hit success of his first MLB start of 2010? Can the Rockies solve the knuckleball of Charlie Haeger (0-3, 6.56)? Regardless, this should be an exciting game to watch.

I'm watching the Double Play and just had another look at that hit to RCF that Dex and CarGo got mixed up on.

That sure looked like CarGo had the better chance at catching it. Looks like he eased up a bit to me. Wonder if either called for it.

Dex has the call as the CF and if he didn't call for CarGo to take it

then no matter what CarGo has to give way. I thought Dex eased up as well. I think they both saw each other and backed off.

For those who have MLB Network and NOT living along the Front Range...

Wednesday’s Phillies at Rockies game will also be on MLB Network at 3pm ET/12pm PT. (MLB Network blacked out along the Front Range, since they will simulcast the FOXRM feed for that game.)

Also, three weeks from today on May 29th, the Saturday night Dodgers at Rockies will also be on MLB Network at 8pm ET/5pm PT. (MLB Network blacked out along the Front Range, since they will simulcast the FOXRM feed for that game.)

At least MLB Network does give the Rockies some National coverage.

My dad (a Phillies fan, much to my dismay) specifically got tix to a Phillies-Dodgers game because he wanted to see ManRam (“one of the best players (sic) in baseball”). After he bought the tix, ManRam went to baseball jail… funny on many levels.

The wiki page has a whole bunch of awesome quotes.

Here’s one:

“Throwing a knuckleball for a strike is like throwing a butterfly with hiccups across the street into your neighbor’s mailbox.” ― Hall of Famer Willie Stargell

by holly96 on May 8, 2010 8:28 PM MDT up reply actions

“Like some cult religion that barely survives, there has always been at least one but rarely more than five or six devotees throwing the knuckleball in the big leagues… Not only can’t pitchers control it, hitters can’t hit it, catchers can’t catch it, coaches can’t coach it, and most pitchers can’t learn it. The perfect pitch.” ― Ron Luciano, former AL umpire

by holly96 on May 8, 2010 8:29 PM MDT up reply actions

Yeah that one's the best

At least it's a little more bearable tonight, since we already have the seven runs for tacos.

I guess they didn’t shoot enough to make it a 30-second spot instead of two 15-second spots.
