Colorado "Hitter of the Week" - Week 14

Last week was the first week of Colorado "Hitter if the Week" and Colorado "Pitcher of the Week". The winners for week 13 are: Hitter of the week(13) is Dexter Fowler with 78% of the votes. Pitcher of the Week(13) is Huston Street with 47% of the votes. Interesting how it was there first weeks back on the big league team. Jason Hammel did give Street some competition for most of the week but came in second with 25% of the votes.

And know for this weeks hitters...more after the jump!!!  HaHaHa!!!

Star-divide

Last weeks hitter where:Olivo, Smith, Barmes, Fowler, and Herrera...This week I will suggest Carlos Gonzales, Ian Stewart, Jason Giambi, Miguel Olivo, and Jonathan Herrera...wait Olivo and Herrera for 2 weeks in a row.  Know for there stats for the week :

Week 14 Avg AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB SO SB TB SLG% OBA OPS Team Record
Carlos Gonzalez 0.481 27 7 13 3 0 4 7 0 5 0 28 1.037 0.481 1.519 5-1
Ian Stewart 0.375 16 4 6 0 0 2 9 3 2 0 12 0.750 0.474 1.224 5-1
Jason Giambi 0.643 14 3 9 1 0 0 3 2 1 0 10 0.714 0.688 1.402 4-1
Miguel Olivo 0.563 16 5 9 2 0 0 3 1 2 0 11 0.688 0.588 1.276 3-1
Jonathan Herrera 0.360 25 5 9 1 1 0 1 3 2 0 12 0.480 0.429 0.909 5-1

The leaders for each category are in bold. CarGo lead the team in 8 category's...I think he was try to prove to MLB that he belongs in the ASG or something. Stewart really had a good game Friday night against SD hitting 2 HR's with 6 RBI's. He lead  the team in 2 category's. Giambi was a surprise to me with top BA and he only stock out once all week...good job Giambi maybe glimpse of last year coming around. Olivo had a good week as well, well our catchers in general had an awesome week hitting a combined .407/.704/.429 with 2 HR's and 8 RBI's, but it is for hitter not hitters of the week so Olivo gets a call again hitting an impressive .563 while not leading in any category's he was very high in most and if Iannetta did't hit 2 HR's early in the week, Olivo might have batted more. Herrera is another who was on the list lst week and came through with another solid week...starting to become habit for him. Only this week he went all out a had 2...count them 2 extra base hits...a double and a triple...whats next a triple and a HR next week ...maybe a CP for someone.

Interesting week in we only had 1 triple and 1 stolen base all week. Good week in that we almost...almost caught SD for 1st place in the division. 5-1 against StLouis and SD is playing good baseball through.

This week in the poll I'm going to add in an other options if you would like to add in your own pick, and please make some comments as to why I should have added him to the poll, Thanks.

I voted for CarGo beacause...

He was awesome this week with 3 doubles and 4 HR’s. Really rubbing it in the faces of people who didn’t vote for him.

Cargo Gonzales

as Jerry mistakenly called him once this week. Impressive SLG and OPS of an All-Star. Carrrlos will just prove to everyone the rest of the year that he is an All-Star! I would rather have that than him making the team.

Enough of this mediocrity...win the NL West title

I thought about him but...

He had only 2 hits, now I know that the 2 hits went for HR’s but even CarGo hit more hten that this week.

Would you have voted for CDI over CarGO?

Clutch hitting is very valuable,

especially what he did. It’s especially tough when you’re making spot starts and appearances.

Honorable mention to CDI for clutchiness, and Giambi for really putting something together

but in the end, I had to go with the “duh” vote… CarGo. :-)
