All stats are useless if improperly used
All stats are valuable if properly used. WPA is no good for predicting value or gauging talent level. It just measures how much a player has affected the game, which is perfectly sensible as a “hmm…interesting” type of stat

Anyway, as said above, the issue is more that a good portion of our hitters seem uncoachable…
Is it the players who are uncoachable or the coach who can't coach. I might say it was the players if it were just a couple.
But the whole team isn’t hitting. I have a hard time believing none of them can be coached.

Yes
That record was buttered up by a good streak. But these guys have been awful with runners in scoring position, on the basepaths, and playing defense below capabilities all year. With the exception of herrera and dex, everyone is swinging for the fences (or not swinging at all) and its gone on since April. They are more than capable of winning the west and bad baseball is the reason they are about to be 7.5 games out (this all started with that whiff of a throw home in the game against SD)

good pitching hid alot. Ubaldo went out of his mind for 12 games.
If you’ve watched em all year, stranding runners and lack of clutch hitting didnt start on this trip. I dont think they had a come from behind win until the Red Sox series. They have made awful base running mistakes all season.

If I weren't rooting for the rox...it wouldnt be so frustrating
Would love to see the shorter swings and some small ball and stay in the race.
But the padres and giants are beating up on bad teams, and the Rox couldnt (remember that 1-5 stretch against houston and arizona)— by tomorrow afternoon, this team might be a seller.
I've been doing that for a while...
He’s a nice guy. Id settle for Don Baylor’s head. Long swings make for exciting streaks, but also for what we are seeing now. Seems like unless you have a huge payroll (and the massive bats), small ball can get you through October if pitching holds up. Right now we are getting neither.

Eh, I'll be around.
I just don’t think there’s another 2007 or 2009 in this bunch. And really, even if there was, I don’t know if I’d want it. This year, I wanted a race, a REAL race. Where there’s us and another team or two going back and forth, within 3-4 games of one another. I wanted to think division, not just “well, there’s always the Wild Card”.
I don’t know if it’s the injuries or what. But something is really wrong here. And all I know is that while Tracy is waxing poetically and the FO holding pat, our 3rd winning-est pitcher is in the minors and the trade that should have been made when Tulo went down, wasn’t. Doesn’t make a whole lot of sense.

Don't get me wrong, I'd watch playoff games if there were some.
But by getting so hot at the end of the year, it’s almost like the baseball community de-legitimizes the Rockies 07 and 09 years. They look to them like they’re flukes and it becomes difficult to argue when they lose in the playoffs by being thumped. Even last year against the Phillies, I doubt many people outside of PA and CO saw a competitive series, they just saw Phillies vs. Rockies, 3-1.
I thought we were going to have what the Rays and Yankees are having. A real division race.

they were the “hot” pick to win it all this year due to their impressive season last year. i can see 07 but 09 we won from June on

Making the playoffs there times in four years makes each trip harder to call a fluke. (and several fans in New England I know were really into the Phils/Rox series last year)

I always figured the pre/postgame shows were more aspects of FSNRM than the team
I only watch the pre/postgame intermittently, regardless of how well the team’s doing. I make sure to watch the game, though.

The highlights are not high.
And there’s no star of the game interview.
