Know Your Foe #33: Pirates Pay First Visit To Coors This Season

Pittsburgh Pirates (34-64, 20.5 GB, 6th NL Central)

2009 Record Vs. Rockies: Lost season series 3-6.

The Rockies dropped the middle series to the Pirates, getting swept at home.

Last Two Series Results: 2-2 series split with Milwaukee; 0-3 series loss to Padres

The Pirates could not help the Rockies at all in that series against the Padres. Guess the Rockies will need to do things on their own.

Thursday-Thursday: 3-game series @ Coors Field

in normal circumstances

i would say just win the series…but a sweep would be much needed

I think it would

be cool if DLR has more Ks after tonight than Duke does. Objections and opinions?

I hope because I'll be at the game!

I want nothing short of a no-hitter. If Matt Garza can throw one, so can JDLR

Which would be awesome

19Ks and Duke not getting any would put him past Duke’s season K total in almost 3X as many innings pitched

I fully expect the Rockies to strike out at least 10 times tonight

you know, just to make Duke feel good about himself before the drop a 10-spot on him in the 6th. That’s my prediction: 10-6 Rox. All six bucco’s runs coming in the first two innings.

If we're going on the random predictions bandwagon

Both pitchers will go into the 9th with perfect games and the Rockies will win 1-0 on a walk-off HR from Ian Stewart, making up for the Phillies series.

The Pirates are 2-24 in their last 26 road games

and 11-38 on the road overall, this series is a must sweep.

The Colorado Rockies aren't a team, they're an armada.
