With Ubaldo up next I would swing for the fences here
If the 2007 Rockies can win 21 out of 22 to reach the World Series and the 2009 Rockies can come from 12 games under .500 in June to make the playoffs, why can't the 2010 Rockies make the postseason after being 51-50?

Mike Newman: Well, you stole my thunder with Cleary. Eliezer Mesa has a chance to be something….maybe a 4th OF type. Nina is very smooth at times, but has his flaws. The prospects on that team really fall off of a cliff after the players you mentioned.

Mike Newman: I only saw Wheeler for one innings, but it was instant man love. Behind Teheran, he’s the second best pitching prospect I’ve laid eyes on. His ceiling is off the charts and he’s a much easier prospect to imagine as a true ace than Matzek.

But we’ve seen a lot worse. What that tells me more than anything is less about the RISP situation and more about the lack or real opportunities we had.

I think the Rockies CAN go to the postseason
I just don’t think they will. They’ve already missed out on way too many opportunities this season. They’ve only had 2 guys hit consistently and 1 starter pitch well consistently, that’s not enough to get to the playoffs.
Someone needs to step up, grab the bull by the horns and stake a claim to the everyday RF job, because the revolving door situation right now isn’t working. There also needs to be more production from 1B than we’ve seen thus far.
We also need two of the trio of Hammel, de la Rosa and Francis to start giving quality efforts every fifth day, because with each of them it seems to be consistently two steps forward and one step back.
I know Tulo said something similar back in May or so, but the Rockies certainly have the talent to make the postseason, but so far haven’t executed well enough to do so.

if you click the little picture box and type in www.picturewebsite.com/funnypicture/giant2MBpicture.png and then post the picture itself here, that is image leeching/hotlinking. That means for people to view the picture on this website, it will be eating bandwidth from picturewebsite.com and it will eat their bandwidth for every page view.
Sites like Imageshack and Tinypic are there for this exact reason, so that we eat their bandwidth, because they allow us to.
