Should be interesting to see how Francis pitches tonight. Good location on his fastball ought to do the trick with his good change up and decent curve ball, but this is said every time he pitches.

I’m guessing, though, that he was only using this season, and there may be some sort of alternative explanation for this… like I said, doctors in Mexico will prescribe a lot of stuff that’s illegal in the U.S.

I'm not saying it's the end of the season....
But the lack of offense last night was ridiculous. I know that nobody can really just fix that but it gets hard to watch such a poor performance knowing that the talent can do a hell of a lot better than that.

It’s more that when you do a double switch, you normally take out the last hitter to make an out. Minimizes the chances the pitcher’s spot comes up again and everything.
On this note
Barmes’ performance at the plate could have to do with him not having had a day off in forever.

I think part of it is the ability to block pitches in the dirt
Olivo is horrible, and Iannetta is at least average. It seems like pitchers are hesitant to really spike the ball with Olivo catching. Not sure though if that would explain all of it.

We control our own destiny against LA, even had they won tonight!
We do NOT control our own destiny against PHI, and thus must pull for whoever plays them!
true, but the Phillies are not in our division, so they don't play other teams directly ahead of us
Whereas the Dodgers have to play the Giants and Padres and could potentially jam us on our ascent—I would rather not have the Dodgers pass us at the end to steal a playoff spot by beating either of those teams.
And also, we do have the opportunity to make up one game on Philadelphia—that’s something. There’s no way we can win every single game remaining against all of the teams ahead of us (except the Cardinals cuz we own them :P)
