If the 2007 Rockies can win 21 out of 22 to reach the World Series and the 2009 Rockies can come from 12 games under .500 in June to make the playoffs, why can't the 2010 Rockies make the postseason after being 51-50?

As one of those defending Barmes, in this particular instance,
the kind of error Barmes made he generally NEVER does….so yeah I’m gonna not kill him over this….even if we had lost the game…

…now that he’s becoming ‘field like Uggla, still no hit’ he’s lost my support.

If the 2007 Rockies can win 21 out of 22 to reach the World Series and the 2009 Rockies can come from 12 games under .500 in June to make the playoffs, why can't the 2010 Rockies make the postseason after being 51-50?

I’m in the gym watching the little gameday for the game on my phone, which is about to die. Rockies winning 5-3..C Hart batting 2-1 count. PHONE DIES!!!
Barely got home and I check to find out THIS happened!?!?!? What the hell Barmes?? Sheesh.. I’m just speechless.
Rockies won, that’s what matters.

All we really need is a 21-26 finish
Of course we all want better than that, but IF the time comes that the postseason fades from possibility, focus on 82 wins, which means a winning season, finishing above .500. The Rockies have not had back-to-back winning seasons since 1996-1997 (!) so that in itself would be an accomplishment.

Failure to some extent, yes, but...
This roster has clearly not turned the corner yet. The very fact that all the talk is now centered on the wild-card race is evidence enough. A true contender is contending to win its division every season, not take the wild-card berth three out of four years. But before that, you have to be a win-more-than-you-lose team consistently. I want to see the Rox become the 1991-2005 Braves, but consistency must come first. And maybe the mojo of Bobby Cox.
