July 19th vs Florida -The Rox rally late. In the 9th the Rox decide to work around Uggla. Olivo sets up every pitch outside the strike zone and Uggla walks. Next batter Murphy hits one out and the Rox lose.
Today - Rox come back late. With 2 outs Olivo sets up outside the strike zone every damn pitch until the last one pitching to Jones and surprise surprise he walks. I am sitting there going here we go again and sure enough boom Alvarez homers. As soon as Jones walked I just had this bad bad feeling.
Now I know Jones has killed the Rox this year but you can absolutely not walk him in that scenario. Olivo can not set up every pitch a foot outside the strike zone. You HAVE to go after the hitter in that situation and not monkey around with him. If he homers its a tie.
What could have been a great win turns into a killer loss. Had an opportunity to pick up a game on everybody but because they decide they can not challenge Jones it turns into a loss. What is so frustrating is that they did not learn from the mistake of 3 weeks ago. You can not put the tying run on because your catcher is setting up so far outside. The 0-1 pitch hit Olivo's glove tonight but because of where he set up the pitch had no chance of being a strike.
I am so dumbfounded, frustrated, and angry about this loss. I put this on Olivo or Tracy, whomever was calling for location.
