Matt Holliday???? Gotta wonder....
Should the Cards keep Albert, one has to think that they look to move Matt. Would have to think that a package inlcuding Seth Smith, Field, and a high end pitching prospect could get it done. This would be the boldest move out there from an offensive perspective and solve a lot of our offensive issues. Whay are people's thoughts? Would the Monforts be able to swallow their pride a bit and make move like this?

There’s no way in Hell that Holliday comes back. He burned that bridge.

I may have missed it, but what bridges did he burn?

Holliday didn't burn any bridges here.
I don’t think the front office would have any pride-swallowing problems.
Now, three-dudes-eventually-taking-up-two-thrids-the-payroll-by-themselves problems? I’m pretty sure they’d have some of those.
Would love this, though. Visions of Matt Holliday back in LF hitting clean-up makes my heart go pitter-patter.
Just a small town kid who thinks Coors Field on a sunny summer Saturday night is the best place to be on this or any other plane of existence. When a late-inning Todd Helton go-ahead homerun is added to this scenario, my brain melts.

unrealistic idea is unrealistic
the only organization of humans responsible for more evil in the universe than the philadelphia phillies is the boston red sox
be happy, because 2012 is coming.
Maybe unrealistic, but sure is nice to fantasize about.

There's no way the Cardinals move Holliday.
Back when they signed Holliday, Pujols basically said “I want to make sure that the Cardinals are serious about winning”. So they signed Holliday, knowing that he’d go a long way to making the Cardinals a perennial contender. They knew they’d have to juggle Holliday and Pujols to make it work, and I just can’t see them NOT doing it.

When he burned the bridges
at least for me it was in this interview…
http://www.denverpost.com/sports/ci_10899898
When he said
“I specifically don’t want to spend my career collecting paychecks and having October off. I want to be in a situation where I feel like I can make the postseason every year, not only if the perfect storm comes together,” Holliday said.
then he followed that up with…..
“I am not saying Colorado can’t do that…” Well Matt you just did say that.
Between that and his performance in the playoffs, I am not interested in having him back. Sure, he is still one of the best hitters in the game, but I think for the type of investment (both money and player/prospects) I think the Rockies should look elsewhere.
What if the hokey pokey is what it is all about after all????
looking back at the past few seasons
I don’t know if Holliday could have been more on the mark. STL isn’t the apotheosis of perennial contention – but they’re damn good and they just won. Us? We’ve been relying on perfect storms and divisional mediocrity…
"These are thin mints. I put them in the freezer. My favorites. So good."
--Reds outfielder Adam Dunn, on the girl scout cookies he keeps in his locker
I didn't say he wasn't right.....
However, if that is all he thinks the Rockies will be being during his career than that is fine, he is entitled to his opinion and he should have left. I think they are trying to build a consitantly competative team. Maybe it is not going as well as they had hoped but the Rockies are not the only MLB team in that boat. What I took from his comments is that he had doubts about either the Rockies commentment to win or plan to win. If that is the case then fine leave, no hard feelings. However taking a parting shot while he is walking out the door is not necessary and that is the source of my frustration with him. Sometimes descretion is the better part of valor.

I'm not really sure I agree with this
Since Hollioday left, the Rockies are 248-238 while Holliday’s teams are 256-230, a pretty small difference over 3 seasons – It’s also worth noting that the Rockies would have actually been ahead in this calculation until late August this season when the Cardinals themselves started relying on quite possibly the most perfect storm of all time to win the World Series.
Let’s compare again in about 2017.
I was pretty disgusted after the Rockies season, but the rapid demise of the I-95 teams have helped with that.

I think the best part about this article is that it speculates that the FO was looking to trade Holliday for SP...
