Baltimore Orioles Sign Scott Beerer
29 year old Scott Beerer was drafted by the Rockies in 2003 in the 2nd round, one round after Ian Stewart. A notable talent at Texas A&M on the mound and at the plate, the Rockies elected to have him start his career as a reliever. After four uneven seasons, Beerer retired with a career 4.79 ERA. After two seasons away, Beerer tried to make a comeback as an outfielder. He signed with Colorado in 2009. This past season, Beerer earned an All-Star selection in AA Tulsa and finished the season hitting .372/.401/.514 in 41 games with AAA Colorado Springs. Beerer signed a minor league contract with Baltimore today.
