Rockies 6, D-backs 5: Rockies Take Second Straight at Salt River

The Rockies and Diamondbacks fumbled their way through six errors and four wild pitches between them to complete their second official game together at Salt River Fields.

The Rockies got on the board early, touching the newly acquired starting pitcher Armando Galarraga for two runs in the first inning. Just like in Saturday's game, most of the offense came late, as Arizona relievers Esmerling Vasquez and Kam Mickolio allowed four runs in the 7th and 8th.

The offensive contributions were spread around, as several players produced runs, including Jonathan Herrera who stayed hot from Saturday with a triple and a walk. Other notable offense producers included Dexter Fowler, Willy Taveras, Hernan Iribarren, Charlie Blackmon and Tim Wheeler, as well catchers Jose Morales and Chad Moeller. Todd Helton saw his first game action of the Spring, sending a ball 400 feet to an outfield glove in his first at bat.

Jhoulys Chacin, the game's starting pitcher, and Esmil Rogers each produced two clean innings. Fellow starting candidate Eric Stults wasn't so lucky, allowing three runs on five hits in his pair of frames, though he struck out three opposing batters. Huston Street pitched the 5th, allowing one run and a wild pitch. Matt Belisle struck out two batters in his scoreless inning, while Keith Weiser closed out the game, allowing one run but picking up the save, sending the Rockies to their second victory of the Spring.

Anyone know if there's a list of which Rox ST games are going to be televised?

What about the games on KOA?

Why can’t the ST games at least be on radio?

Saturdays I think

I believe in the future, the reality of the present, the sweet memories of the past, living is more than breathing, spring will came if we wait, patiently, believing, hoping. But the winter is long and we must endure its cold. I believe in the future, the reality of what is to come, the sweet memories that are yet to occur, probably, eventually, someday.

And I believe in hope and anticipation: the idea that we’ll meet again, and counting down the days until we do.

perhaps we should consider starting Hernan Irribarren over Ian Stewart too.

HAHA

Actually my job is part of the reason why I had 100 posts. I had to send out 87 separate emails to people in one of our codes who didn’t fill out their paperwork properly when we did an inventory last fall. All the emails are basically the same except for the ### that appy to each person’s item(s) that need to be checked individually. So it was send an email, check gameday, post a comment on PR, send an email, check gameday, post a comment on PR………repeat. I got in a groove.

Anyways, good to see the Rox take another ST game. The positives I’ll take from this: Helton hit it far, Esmil/Jhoulys/Belisle looked damn good, and uhhh yeah. Not much else

Defense needs to tidy up, but whatever.

Go Rockies. Does anyone know if tomorrow’s game will be on MLB.tv? I’m looking up and I see it’ll be on ‘Squeeze Play’, whatever the hell that is.

There were some odd editing decisions. But overall,

I liked the show. The results of the games really don’t matter. The key to spring training is performance and repetition in key areas. In absence of a full game replay, this format works for me. I often listen to the radio and watch the highlights anyway. Two kids under two will do that for you.

I guess the World Poker Tour pulls in bigger ratings than spring training game replays. In essence, they are still broadcasting the game unless they’re picking up from someone else’s feed and layering audio over the highlights. It didn’t seem like that was the case though.

Said Pacheco had another good AB and hit the ball hard. With Rosario coming up, how does Pacheco fit into our future plans?

by CentralCaliRox on Feb 28, 2011 8:44 PM MST reply actions

Pacheco is not a liability at catcher but if one of Iannetta or especially Rosario cements the starting catcher spot in 2012 and Pacheco keeps hitting as he has been...

… I foresee them converting him to a corners utilityman.
