The Kansas City Royals won today, and with that and the Rockies loss, Colorado surrendered their chance at winning the Cactus League. Well, the joke is on you, KC. The Cactus League championship means absolutely nothing. So enjoy your fake trophy. We didn't want it anyway.
Jhoulys Chacin was shaky with his command, but in four out of his five innings, he was under control against the Seattle Mariners. He struck out six and walked three on the day, allowing five hits. Unfortunately five of those eight base-runners reached base in the third inning, four with two outs. Chacin issued two two out walks to load the bases, Miguel Olivo singled home a run, and Ryan Langerhans cleared the bases with a double.
Felipe Paulino later surrendered a double and home run for two more runs, and the Mariners managed three singles off Huston Street for a single tally.
On the offensive side of things, Troy Tulowitzki clubbed another home run, driving in two and indirectly proclaiming that he will not be a fantasy bust this season. Ty Wigginton laced a doubled to left in what has been a strong spring for him.
With this, the Rockies' time in Arizona is finally at an end. They will head to Tulsa, Oklahoma (without Ian Stewart) to face their AA team tomorrow. Esmil Rogers, Matt Belisle, Franklin Morales and Matt Reynolds are scheduled to pitch.
