I am posting a baseball quote of the day every day until I run out of quotes (which could take a while) but a lot of the quotes I have are old. If you have quotes from more recent times about baseball or by baseball players please post them here or e-mail them to me so I can add them to my list. Thanks.

These can be

funny, serious, weird or anything else, I’m just looking to build my collection to keep the quotes coming for more than the next year. Thanks

I have this one

“These are thin mints. I put them in the freezer. My favorites. So good.”
—Reds outfielder Adam Dunn, on the girl scout cookies he keeps in his locker.

One day, I’ll look into more Dunn quotes. He’s the best.

From the late Bill Veeck:

“Fans’ knowledge of the game is usually in inverse proportion to the price of the seats.”

And Mr. Veeck didn’t even live long enough to see most of these idiots who sit behind home plate and text/talk/wave-at-the-camera the entire night.

My favorite

for no good reason:

Harry Caray said: “Aw, how could he (Jorge Orta) lose the ball in the sun, he’s from Mexico.”

My favorite

“Don’t tell me about the world. Not today. It’s springtime, and they’re knocking baseball around fields where the grass is damp and green in the morning and the kids are trying to hit the curveball.” – George Hammill

Also, most any quote by A. Bartlett Giamatti is great.

How about those grades? Well, there's an A in alcohol, a B in beer. C is for Miss Carter, who we love so dear. D is for drunk, and there ain't no E, so F's for Forever Clear.

I think that was a Pete Hamill quote

and feel free to e-mail me or post the other quotes you have/like and I will look at them and see if I already have them.

Correct

Don’t know why I said George. At least I didn’t say Mark haha.

Here’s a classic Earl Weaver gem.

“The key to winning baseball games is pitching, fundamentals, and three run homers.”

A few of my favorites...
"Baseball was, is, and always will be to me the best game in the world" ~Babe Ruth
"There’s no crying in baseball" ~ A League of Their Own
"HEY, 230 AIN’T GONNA CUT IT IN THIS TOWN, BABE!" ~Kramer, from Seinfeld
"Because I am a Rockie" ~ Todd Helton
"A life is not important except in its impact on other lives." ~ Jackie Robinson
"It ain’t over ‘til it’s over" ~ Yogi Berra
"When you start quoting Yogi Berra, it’s definitely over!" ~ The Catch
"No baseball fan has to explain his mania to any other baseball fan. They are a fraternity. It is less easy, often it is hopeless, to try to explain it to anyone else. You grow technical, and you do not make sense. You grow sentimental, and you are deemed soft in the head. How, the benighted outsider asks you with no little condescension, can you grow sentimental about a cold-blooded professional sport?" ~ John K. Hutchens

My friend gave me a little book of baseball quotes. I started typing them up, but realized there was way too many, so I’ll have to end up emailing them to you.

Do you have the name of the book?

I might go buy it for fun.

Augh, the name escapes me now.

I’ll get it to you. I think it might be called “Play Ball?”
Doing a quick google search, it seems there might be a few cool quote books. The one I have isn’t that big, and have A LOT of Yankee stuff in it : )

From the SI article dated May 24, 1993 titled "The Importance Of Being Barry"

Willie Mays, questioned in 1993 as to whether he’d actually said “F___ the fans.”

“I never said that. And anyway, that was 40 years ago.”

Nomadic baseball fan, with no agenda other than observation/conversation/mass confusion/mass consumption.

Barry Bonds: "I did."
Prosecutor: "GAH!"
