New York Mets (15-19, 5th in the NL Central)
2011 Record vs. Colorado: 0-4
Last Series vs. Rockies: April 11-14, 2011 (L 0-4 at Citi Field)
Here's the funnest fact of the series that you all already know: Troy Tulowitzki homered in every game of that series.
Adam Meshell of NJ.com says it best:
The Mets Must Contain Tulowitzki - Round 2 | NJ.com
Tulowitzki has done most of his damage this year against the New York Mets. He also hit the crap out of the Dodgers and did some damage agains the Cubs, but he's been kind of "meh" against all of his other opponents.
The 4-game series vs the Mets wasn't quite the blowout it looks like when you read "4-game sweep". 3 of the 4 games were decided by one run, and the one 4-9 blowout had Chris Capuano giving up 7 runs in just under 6 innings. Given the Rockies' recent batting woes, I'm not going to just say "heh, pushovers", but the Rockies have a lot of room to get back on track against the Metropolitans.
Latest Series Results: L 1-2 vs the Giants, W 2-1 vs Dodgers
If you listened to this week's Purple Row Radio, we spent a lot of time discussing Jose Reyes and the potential for him being traded. Ted Berg makes the claim that when healthy, Reyes is an elite-level shortstop. But is he guaranteed trade bait? Given he's in a contract year, the Mets' record seems to be a hingepin for whether or not Reyes stays with his current club, and additionally, Sandy Alderson's work on an extended contract this offseason will be another big point.
Reyes is killing it right now, and while the Mets may not finish higher than 4th in the NL East, that's no guarantee that we're going to see some sort of firesale from the club.
