Friday Pebble Report: Brad Emaus Delivers For The Springs, Dexter Fowler Goes Hitless
Colorado Springs, W 7-3
Second baseman Brad Emaus delivered the big hits for the Sky Sox. He put a ball over the left center field wall in the first inning for a solo shot (9) and then added two more RBI in the fourth on a double. Dexter Fowler went 0-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored. Mike Paulk picked up three hits and an RBI.
Greg Reynolds pitched six innings and picked up 12 ground ball outs. He allowed two runs on 10 hits (eight singles, two doubles).
Modesto, L 3-6
Chad Bettis (6 IP, 4 H, 3/1 R/ER, 1 BB, 2 K) entered the sixth inning with a 2-1 lead, but errors by Josh Rutledge and Eliezer Mesa chased him out of the game. Michael Marbry entered the game, allowed a sac bunt, and then saw Juan Ciriaco hit a two-run double to put San Jose in the lead. Marbry allowed three more runs, all unearned, in the eighth inning. Nolan Arenado's fielding error started things off in the eighth inning, but a wild pitch and a double scored the three runs.
Arenado put the Nuts up, 1-0, in the first inning, while Kent Matthes' ninth homer of the season put the Nuts up, 2-0, in the fourth inning. Delta Cleary added an RBI single in the eighth for his third hit of the night. All told, the offense picked up 10 hits.
Asheville, L 5-6
The Tourists jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the second inning with a Helder Velazquez two-run double and a Russell Wilson RBI single. However, Asheville's pitching didn't oblige to keep Augusta off the board. Albert Campos finished five innings of work by allowing four runs on seven hits and three walks. In the fourth inning, back-to-back doubles allowed one run before a wild pitch and a sac fly scored the other.
Tied at four in the sixth inning, the Tourists retook the lead thanks to Russell Wilson. He walked, stole second (13), and then scored after swiping third (14) because of a throwing error by the catcher. But Joshua Mueller gave it all back in the bottom of the inning.

Dex isn't making it easy on the FO
If they wanted to trade him (not saying they should), he sure isn’t helping much.
Boy...
he fizzled fast. Had a decent time after his return last year, but this year, the man was no where. I really wonder what happens to these guys sometimes. He and Strike Out Stewart went to the dogs overnight…..
BTW: I reiterate my statement that the Rox will have to go on a 10 game winnng streak before they become relevant again. So far. they have two in a row…..
I think many are giving up on Dexter too soon.
He’ll find his swing in AAA and be back . . . maybe not as the every day CF/lead-off hitter, but will contrinute to the big club again.
Really, we should be watching his strikeout rate
a lousy 3 game stretch on a rehab assignment does seem incredibly premature….
"These are thin mints. I put them in the freezer. My favorites. So good."

As I sit here in my Dexter Fowler tshirt I say
I wouldn’t be surprised if he never sees the majors again with the Rox(Stewart either)
Fowler tonight had another 2 strike outs
But he also managed 1 hit in 5 AB’s. Stewart went 1 for 5, and his 1 hit was a solo home run.
Rockies Fever!
