Purple Row Radio - June 20th, 2011
Welcome back to Purple Row Radio! On this edition, Andrew and I get very distracted and talk about the following random things and (probably) more:
- Rockies players playing through games with broken bones. Cool!
- What exactly does it mean to be on the 40 Man Roster and the 60 Day Disabled List? Whoa!
- Why did Matt Pagnozzi get the call as opposed to Eliezer Alfonzo or Jordan Pacheco? Awesome!
- Flashback to backup catchers of years past, including names such as Alvin Colina, Edwin Bellorin and Geronimo Gil. Radical!
- Why Jason Hammel and Huston Street give such great interviews. Totally sweet!
- Andrew takes another look at the progress of Charlie Blackmon and Chris Nelson as they continue their quests for long-term opportunities with the Rockies. Wow!
- What can we expect from the upcoming Indians series? .... exclamation!
- Producing a podcast. .... Seriously?
- Plenty of other nonsense.
Note: this episode is not, in fact, a toy commercial.

Every time I hear you say "Pagg-nozzy" instead of "Pan-yot-see"
I want to break something. Or someone.
I wonder if that's actually how his family pronounces the name
Pag Nozzy – they Americanized it themselves.

I'm sure you're right, but that doesn't make it any less depressing.
I bet you sold out too, and only use “Marrr-teeeeen” with your ancient Paraguayan gramma.
I drop the "ez" too

That's how I've always heard the name pronounced.
Remember, I took three semesters of Italian, we’ve discussed it before. I know that isn’t the proper pronunciation under that tongue; I assume they Americanized it.

Good Podcast this week
slow news week though…
I am in favor of inter-league all-season...
@TheRealGmo
And the menu with all the exclamations made it seem so much more exciting... ; )
Actually, it was fun hearing Greg get all worked up about the 40 man.
I can’t remember any of Jason Hammel’s interviews, but totally agree on Street. The radio interview have been really short this season, and have the same q’s all the time, and thus are 30 seconds long. But a few weeks ago, I remembered they interviewed Street, and it was the longest interview of the year. Totally didn’t say the canned stuff, and even when you expect the players to respond “Thanks Jerry” to “Great win”, he went on to say “Oh yeah, when the team wins it is a great game”.
But now I will scavenge the internet in search of a Hammel interview.
I'm gonna change my sig because the last time I did, we had a little winning streak. Then I changed it back, and we started losing again. It's the least I can do.

I had assumed Greg's reasoning before,
after today still not sure.
