As surmised in the Rockpile and blogged about by Troy Renck yesterday, Fowler is hitting the DL for his abdominal troubles. Charles Blackmon a strong possibility for taking the roster spot.

I hope it's Blackmon

and he starts. This EY in center field business has got to stop.

Blackmon & Brothers are both up now? This is what I’ve been waiting to see ….

How long until someone claims the injury is fake?

It certainly is a legit injury

but if he were hitting .500/.600/.700 the last month, a DL stint would probably be less likely

Gotta love the bogus DL Stint

Lets hope blackmon seizes the moment and lights it up

Purple Row Staff- Maybe we can get an in depth look at Blackmon and his career so far, where he came from, and how he has progressed?

Sigh.

I’m eager to see Blackmon, but I still want to see Fowler come back and be successful. It just makes me happy when he is contributing.

Its just not the same

without seeing the lanky gazelle out patrolling center fielder. Its always so nice when he is out there because he is going to get to about every ball and there are little worries.

I want to see Fowler traded for some team

who still believes in his potential. At this point in his career, I can’t see him becoming much more then what he is… a 4th outfielder.

It's Jim Tracy's Fault.

All he has to do is

revert back to last season’s form (or the year before). This isn’t a guy who’s never accomplished anything, just a guy who’s been struggling.

by webgem14 on Jun 6, 2011 2:02 PM MDT up reply actions

Doubt it

Dex has never even been a ML average hitter. And that’s usually with above average BABIP, so not likely to be bad luck. You can name on a couple hands the number of ML everyday outfielders with as little power as he has, and his defense is a bit overrated imo, as he’s great going back but mediocre coming in. Cargo is better overall, and for a CF, he’s good but nothing earth-shattering or game changing.

He’s got a pretty low ceiling IMO but I think still has a little cache. I’d love to see what we can get for him, especially if Blackmon hits.

I love Cole, but I think Blackmon has to be the guy

Despite being RH (which would be preferable), Garner missed a month due to injury and has been back in the lineup for two weeks. He’s hitting very well, but not as much as Blackmon, and with his “prospect” tag, he’s likely seen as a more likely contributor to the offense.

new to PR

i was lookin up blackmon’s stat on one of those minor league links on the left of the homepage. didnt realize how many players with hawaii ties are in the Rockies system. hell, i didnt even know lenn sakata was a coach. well, its not like any of them will ever make it up to the majors, with maybe the exception of slaats since hes still young. but its still crazy to see, since i played against guys like bronson sardinha and kala kaaihue while i was growing up and in HS.

i know a lot of posters here arent big on kolten wong, but i hopefully he be playing in a rockies uniform in 3-4 years.

Welcome!

I’m guessing “808” is the Hawaii area code? What brings you to Colorado?

Hoo boy.

There’s a lot of stuff on that.

Jeff wrote a series a while back covering all of those in excruciating detail. Here’s the start

Blackmon Blackmon he's our man!

if he can’t hit…well then he’ll be like the rest of the team (toddie excepted).
