Through the first week of Arizona Fall League play, the Salt River Rafters are tied atop the standings with a 4-2 record. Colorado Rockies starting pitcher Tyler Chatwood and outfield prospect Kent Matthes have proved their worth in the early going for the Rafters.
Chatwood leads all AFL pitchers in strikeouts with 11, and innings pitched with 7.2. In two starts, he has posted a 4.70 ERA while allowing six hits and boasting a K/BB ratio of nearly 4-to-1.
Matthes has just two hits since the opener, but still owns a batting line of .267/.353/.533 in four games worth of plate appearances. Matthes has scored three runs, doubled, homered, driven in three and walked twice.
