Marco Scutaro, Dan Straily, Charlie Culberson and a whole bunch of confusion

Hey Purple Row, A's fan here. I hung out over here one night during a series against San Francisco. Thanks a lot for being so welcoming and finding ways to put up with such a rough year.

What still blows my mind is the whole series of events in which Marco Scutaro was traded. The Colorado FO reportedly wanted Dan Straily from the A's. Straily is one of the top pitching prospects in the Oakland system. He recorded over 200 strikeouts in the minor leagues this year. The A's naturally backed away from that deal.

The FO then approached San Francisco, a division rival, to trade Scutaro. And in return they asked for ... Charlie Culberson? A scrub AAAA middle infielder? Really?

This leads me to ask a few questions...

-What the hell was the FO thinking?

-Do they have any idea how to handle pitching?

-Do they really have that much faith in Culberson?

-Did they really hand a world title to a division rival, one that a lot of their fans can't stand?
