5. So there is this drunk that stumbles out of a bar.
He tries to gather himself; squints and looks around to find his bearings; brushes the dust of his coat when he spots a nun.
Dodging the late night traffic, he half stumbles, half runs across the street and takes a swing at this nun when he reaches her.
He connects with a jab, and then lands a right cross and an uppercut. The nun goes down like a pile of laundry, and the guy just jumps on her.
At this point, a small crowd has gathered and a chivalrous man is about to pull this drunk off the poor nun when the drunk, stops and gets up.
The drunk wipes the slobber from his mouth, points at the nun and says,
“You aren’t so tough now are you, Batman!?!

Despite cultural stereotypes

I probably drink 50 cups of coffee for every cup of tea. I like tea (though I have a real issue, almost an obsession, with the British attitude to tea as a cure-all when it’s inevitably being drunk by drab, beige people in drab beige houses, and if a cup of tea is the most exciting thing they can think of then omg what is wrong with you), I just love coffee.

I don't have a library card

But when I was off sick yesterday I did wander round the local library and although I don’t know if they’ll have many books that would interest me, I loved the vibe. So I am v pro libraries (which are getting [REDACTED] by the government over here right now. Indeed all good public services are getting [REDACTED]).

Hmmm

1) I don’t have any plans yet… maybe happy hour with the co-workers?
2) Cofffeeeee most definitely, although quality is important (a good cup of tea is obviously preferable to a cup of Folgers)
3) Beacuse, Perferable
4) I do have a library card, I used it this summer – BUT I don’t use it anymore because there’s a used bookstore by my work that sells paperbacks for $2, hard covers for $4… awesome.
5) What do you call a man with a spade in his head? An ambulance.

What are your plans this Friday night? Got high school hoops to broadcast in Lexington, NE

Coffee or Tea? Coffee in the morning, tea if my throat’s sore

Which words do you constantly misspell when you type them? “Apparently”.

Do you have a library card? If so, when was the last time you used it? Yeah, but haven’t been there in a while. Used to go all the time when I was a little kid and check out every sports book I could fit into a bag. I was a fast reader so I’d finish them all up and then go back in two weeks for more. Got to the point where I’d read just about every sports related book in that place.

Tell me a joke.

When I was five or six, yeah, I ripped through the library’s whole stock of Matt Christopher in a hurry. I still own a bunch of them – my favorite was always ‘The Kid Who Only Hit Homers’. Don’t know what the hell my mom did with them, but I think they’re still at my parents’ house. I was reading by the time I was two and a half, and just wanted to read whatever I could get my hands on. My first ‘big boy’ book was a biography of Gary Carter. I was three.

I was almost rear ended by someone on HW 7 on Monday, traffic had stopped, he wasn’t paying attention, finally looked up at the last minute and noticed nobody was moving, he had to slam on his breaks, and swerve to the right to avoid hitting me. Saw the whole thing play out in my rear view mirror..not fun.

Me too

It’s funny, but when it was on my DVR list I never seemed to get around to watching it.

The shows I record and watch without fail at this point:

Big Bang Theory
How I Met Your Mother
The Voice
Survivor
The Amazing Race
Once Upon A Time
(Chuck was on this list too until it’s unfortunate premature demise)

Shows I record and get around to watching eventually:

Hawaii 5-0
CSI (Vegas)
(Also recording Smash which may get into this category if I get around to watching it at all)

Show I’m recording but waiting to watch until I catch up with a missed episode online

Downton Abbey

A couple of the small ones found about 3 ounces in a day.

That’s pretty good, and compared to the Hoffmans finding 50 ounces in three months or so it’s pretty good. I don’t understand why those guys never think anything through or dig test pits. At least they’ve gotten a little better.

by RoxnSox09 on Feb 15, 2012 3:45 PM MST up reply actions

Their last cleanout had 15 ounces in two days.

They’re on pace to break 100oz. It sucks that Fred stole their other mine out from under them, he’s found over 80 ounces and he started later. The Hoffman’s were rookies in season 1, but this season they’re doing a lot better.

Parker is my favorite though. That kid is tough, and he knows a lot for his age. Plus, his grandfather cracks me up.

Yeah Parker and his grandpa are awesome..

Hopefully they can keep their mine open. I laughed at Fred when he filled in the Hoffman’s hole though, and then discovered he had to go deeper to find the good gold. He keeps bashing them, but he bottom feeds off of their hard work.

He was in the 89th Division and fought in the Argonne Offensive. Here’s a map I made from the manuscript.

I hadn't really spent much time on that period until now..

I found it interesting how much of a transition the beginning of the war was, it started as a Civil War style battle and ended as a precursor to WWII. Did you know the French started the war in the same uniforms as they wore in the Napoleonic Wars? Check out this rare color photograph
