While the Rockies and Padres played each other, their AAA affiliates matched up too. Guillermo Moscoso rebounded from his previous start with a six and two-thirds innings outing, in which he allowed seven hits but only one run. Most impressively, he notched ten strikeouts. He picked up his first win of the season as his offense backed him up. Jordan Pacheco and Wil Nieves had productive multi-hit games, but the biggest blow came from struggling shortstop Tommy Field who put up his first home run of the season, a three run shot as part of a five run first inning. Every Sky Sox batter sans Moscoso had a hit in the game, including doubles from DJ LeMahieu, Charlie Blackmon, Matt McBride and Chad Tracy.

Corpus Cristi 0, Tulsa 4

Even with Jamie Moyer earning his historic win yesterday, the Rockies almost had another significant story come out of their organization as starting prospect Edwar Cabrera came within three outs of the first perfect game in Tulsa Drillers history. Cabrera struck out eight, and allowed only the one infield hit to Chris Wallace before being relieved by Coty Woods who wrapped up the game cleanly, giving Cabrera his second win on the season. Home runs by Kiel Roling and Lars Davis, each of whom also had another hit on the day, did most of the offensive damage against the Hooks.

Nuts and Tourists games after the jump.

Modesto 3, Inland Empire 2 (10 innings)

A close game ended in a Nuts victory as Inland Empire pitching allowed the Nuts to scrape a 10th inning run out of three walks (one intentional), a sacrifice bunt and a wild pitch. Pinch runner Helder Velazquez at last came home on a single by Cristhian Adames. Though the Nuts were unable to score more of the walked batters, Kurt Yacko (who had earlier blown his second save since being demoted to Modesto to replace the injured Bruce Kern) managed to put the game away on his second attempt. Outfield prospect Rafael Ortega made his 2012 seasonal debut with an 0-5 game. A RBI triple by Jayson Langfels and a solo home run by Dustin Garneau accounted for the Nuts offense before the extra inning Adames single. Starter Josh Slaats had a decent six inning outing, allowing six hits and also striking out six, with one walk and one earned run.

Asheville 12, West Virginia 7

The offense for both teams was slow to start, with Asheville trailing 2-0 at the top of the sixth, but the Tourists annihilated the West Virginia bullpen and pulled off the win. A seven run seventh inning saw most of Asheville's action, including a grand slam from Australian outfield prospect David Kandilas, one of three hits for him. Fellow outfielder Delta Cleary Jr, searching for a second chance at Modesto in the future, also had a three hit game. Every Tourist notched at least a hit or a walk except for Sam Mende, who had an off 0-5 night that included four strikeouts. Starter Chris Jensen secured his first win of the season on a six and a third outing, allowing four runs (two earned) on eight hits and a walk. He struck out six. Closer Nelson Gonzalez saw non-pressure action, and as often seems to happen with late inning relievers throwing junk innings, allowed three runs on three hits in the bottom of the ninth, though he did strike out the side.

All five teams currently playing in the Rockies organization won their games yesterday.
