I recently had the chance to sit down with Tulsa Drillers reliever Coty Woods, a right-hander who enters Wednesday night's game against Frisco with a 3-0 record and an ERA of 0.00. In 19 appearances, Woods has not allowed a run and has seven saves.
Here's part of my interview ...
Henry: Talk about your mindset coming out of the bullpen.
Woods: I was a closer in college as well, so I'm accustomed to late innings. I like those kind of situations where one pitch could win or lose the game. At the same time, you can't put too much pressure on yourself. You can't think too much when you're out there. You just have to throw the ball and do your job.
