Rockies Roll To 5th Straight Taco Victory, Hammer LA 13-3

DENVER, CO - JUNE 01: Wilin Rosario #20 of the Colorado Rockies celebrates as he crosses the plate on his two run home run off of Chris Capuano #35 of the Los Angeles Dodgers in the sixth inning at Coors Field on June 1, 2012 in Denver, Colorado. (Photo by Doug Pensinger/Getty Images)

So far in this homestand, Colorado has won all 5 games they've played. They've also gotten cheap tacos for Colorado residents in every single game. In fact, in their last 3 victories the Rockies have put up double digit run totals. Sure, the starting pitching has left much to be desired, but hey Coors Field!

This time the Rockies did it against a pitcher who was 7-1 with a 2.14 ERA entering the night. Hey, when you're hot you're hot, right? Colorado did their best to push me away in the middle of May, but their siren song is pulling me back in as we begin June. Not that I mind!

Dexter Fowler continued to play baseball well, going 3-5 with 2 RBI -- guess that leadoff thing is going pretty well, huh? Michael Cuddyer homered (7) as part of a multi-hit night and scored 4 times. Wilin Rosario and Chris Nelson also went deep for Colorado, and the Rockies pulled away late. Colorado took advantage of 4 LA errors to score 4 unearned runs (including the first two on an errant Matt Treanor throw), but then the sticks came out. The Rockies ended the game with 15 hits -- though only 4 went for extra bases -- at least one for every starting position player.

Tonight Colorado actually got a very good effort from their melange of spot starter/long men. Josh Outman was very impressive in his abbreviated outing, going 3.1 and allowing only 2 hits while striking out 5. Carlos Torres relieved him for 2 innings and allowed both runs, then Adam Ottavino (who was credited with the win, his first as a big leaguer) came on while it was still close and was great, getting 5 outs and punching out 3.

22 - 29

Won 5

It's nice to have a legitimate winning streak, isn't it? If Colorado wants to re-enter the playoff discussion they exited two weeks ago, it will need to continue for at least the next two games.
