We can't pitch or field, but we can hit

In a world where baseball stats have gotten extreme to the point that I could tell you how someone hits against a left handed pitcher, while the wind is blowing to left field while the first baseman adjusts himself (okay maybe not that extreme). I was always taught baseball was about three things hitting, pitching, and fielding. So I decided to see how the Rockies stack up in these three key elements. I know this is extremely simple, but I found no reason to go any farther.

Let’s look at pitching first (team ERA).

In looking at these numbers and going by golfing rules (low score wins) we are far and away the worst pitching team in MLB. With a worst score of 60 we achieved a 60.

Batting we faired a lot better we scored 11 out 60. So it seems that in hitting we are one of the better teams. As I watch the games this is the stat that seems the craziest to me.

Fielding had left a lot to be desired with 22 out of 30.

If you combine all of these fields we scored 93 out of 150. Those numbers to me say we are a really bad team. In comparison in 2007 we scored 34 out of 150!! At the same time these number mean almost nothing as the Pirates are at 92 out of 150 and have a winning record?? The Evil Empire (NYY) scores a 34 out of 150, and the team with the best record in baseball the Dodgers (kill me now) scores 47 out of 150.

In conclusion I have found more frustration with the decision to go with a four man bullpen, and for no coaching or GM changes this season. This team cannot pitch, and their fielding has left a lot to be desired. This fan post may be a waste of you time to read, but it was something for me to do instead of just normal complaining.
