Reds 7, Rockies 2: Sanchez Implodes Again as Rox Get Swept at Home

Another day, another rough performance from a Rockies pitcher, as Jonathan Sanchez was throttled for six runs on eight hits without even being able to get out of the fifth inning. The result? Yet another Rockies loss.

Forget the Sunday/weekend thing - this team is flat-out horrific no matter the day of the week. Aside from Josh Rutledge's first inning homer (one of two hits for the rookie, who is now hitting .379), the Rockies were unable to plate any runners while amassing just six hits - only four of which came against starter Mat Latos.

Aside from Rutledge, the bright spots for the Rockies were the performances of Carlos Torres and Matt Reynolds out of the bullpen. Torres allowed just on hit while recording eight outs - five via K - while not giving up a run. Reynolds, meanwhile, pitched a scoreless ninth in which he punched out two batters.

Sanchez was very inefficient on the mound for the second straight start, and struggled with location and velocity once again as well. He fell to 1-8 on the season and owns an 8.32 ERA.

The Rockies are off tomorrow, and will resume play Tuesday as the Cardinals come to town for a three-game set. The Rox have struggled mightily against the top three teams in the NL Central, and this series looks to be no different. On the bright side, there could be some more movement on the roster between now and then, so at least we'll have something to watch for.
