Monday Pebble Report: Kyle Parker and Dallas Tarleton Each Homer Twice as Modesto Wins in a Rout

Spoiler Alert: This guy owned the Sky Sox yesterday.

A+ Modesto: W 16-2 (61-58, t-2nd, 1 GB)
The Nuts smoked Max Perlman, who was making his first start for the Stockton Ports, to the tune of 10 runs on nine hits (including three homers) in just three innings. The highlight came in the top of the third, when Delta Cleary, Dallas Tarleton, and Kyle Parker hit back-to-back-to-back homers off of Perlman, putting Modesto up 6-0. Tarleton and Parker were not finished, as both players added another homer later in the game. Tarleton has six homers on the year, while Parker hit his 14th and 15th. He also drove in four runs, as did Cleary. Both players also led the team with three hits. Everyone in the Nuts' lineup had at least one hit, as they compiled 17 as a team.

Modesto starter Kennil Gomez allowed just one run (on a solo HR) and six hits and a walk in seven innings. He struck out three.

AA Tulsa: W 10-6 (62-57, 2nd, 4.5 GB)
Speaking of offensive explosions, the Drillers posted 11 hits on their way to a 10-run afternoon. Everyone in the lineup had a hit except for Lars Davis, with Angelys Nina, Ben Paulsen and Tim Torres leading the way with two apiece. Paulsen hit his 12th homer of the season, while Nina picked up his fifth. Corey Dickerson and Nolan Arenado both hit doubles for their only respective hits of the day.

Dan Houston struggled on the mound, allowing six runs (four earned) on eight hits and three walks in just four innings. However, the bullpen picked him up nicely; Tim Sexton, Zach Simons, and Michael Solbach combined to pitch five one-hit innings, striking out seven batters and walking just one while not allowing any runs.

More recaps after the jump...

AAA Colorado Springs: L 13-4 (64-58, 2nd, 7 GB)
Round Rock's Greg Reynolds was the story of the game yesterday, as he earned his tenth victory of the season by defeating his former team. He held the Sky Sox to just two earned runs over seven innings while inducing 12 groundouts. Reynolds has somehow managed to keep his ERA under 5 (4.90) despite pitching in the PCL and still not being able to strike anybody out. Tim Wheeler led the Sky Sox with three hits, including two doubles, and also scored three runs. Andrew Brown went 2-for-4 with 3 RBI.

There are a lot of ugly ERAs in Colorado Springs' portion of the boxscore, particularly those of Ricky Brooks (who allowed three runs to raise his ERA to 8.84) and Jason Bergman (who sits at 9.88 despite tossing a scoreless inning). Nick Schmidt was saddled with the loss, and now has a 7.24 ERA after allowing six runs in five innings. Coty Woods has struggled with the transition to the PCL as well; after putting up a 0.76 ERA in 38 Double-A games, he now has a 7.62 ERA in Triple-A after allowing four runs in an inning of work yesterday.

A- (SS) Tri-City: W 5-3 (27-30, 2nd, 2 GB)
The Dust Devils sort of mimicked the Rockies' starter and accompanying long-relief piggybacker strategy, but they were much more effective in doing so than the big league club has been on most nights. Starter Benjamin Hughes lasted four innings, allowing two unearned runs on five hits and three walks while striking out five. Ryan Arrowood took over for him, and he proceeded to toss four innings of one-run ball, allowing two hits and a walk while notching five K's. Arrowood earned the victory, improving to 3-0 with a 1.18 ERA on the season. Seth Willoughby shut the door with a perfect ninth, picking up his fifth save.

As he has done on multiple occasions, Francisco Sosa paced the Tri-City offense with three hits, including a double, and an RBI. Tom Murphy continued his impressive debut with a two-hit day. His batting average now sits at .324. Miguel De Leon also contributed two hits of his own.

Asheville, Grand Junction, and the DSL Rockies all had the day off.
